The Mirror Never Lies – The Power of Reflection

One morning a mirror appeared in the town square of a small village. Like all other mirrors it could only reflect what was presented.

It was the mirror of Love and Free Will, a mirror that never lied and that allowed people to be seen by others exactly how they themselves chose to be seen. If you stood there as a labourer, a teacher or a student – that is what you would see reflected back. If you stood there as an orphan, a leper, a self-made millionaire, a sports star – that is what was reflected back. But if you stood with a willingness to look beyond the surface, the mirror reflected much, much more.

Some walked up to the mirror and saw the image they wanted to show the world and were happy to have this confirmed, others ignored its arrival altogether, but some stood wanting to look deeper.

Those who looked deeper saw that no matter how perfect their outer image was, they also saw sadness in their eyes, or hardness in their shoulders, or the extra weight that they carried. Some saw this and blamed life for these woes and went back to trying to improve the image they presented, some tried to build new ones; others were honest about what they saw and began to explore the choices they were making – what they were eating, how they were working, how they were relating to themselves and others.

The mirror was impartial to those who stayed and those who moved on. All it could do is reflect to the depth people chose. The choice to do something about what you saw was always yours. However, without this reflection, there was no way for people to see the possibility that things were not as they seemed.

Those who started making new choices both struggled and marvelled as each time they stood in front of the mirror it would reflect both the part that was the surface image and the possibility of something deeper. They still noticed layers of sadness, hardness, grief … and at times it was all they could see. Some felt guilty about their past choices and blamed the mirror for what they saw. They resented the growing possibility that they might need to let go of the façade, and they turned away. Some started shouting to others to remove the mirror from the town square, fearful of what they saw in themselves.

Some used these reflections to refine their choices – they took responsibility for what they saw and knew the only change worth making was to go deeper and become more responsible for their choices.

Over time, what was inside these people all along began to be lived on the outside. The more they dropped the façade, the more joy and vitality came to the surface. But it did not end there…

One day, enjoying the new (but really old) self they had rediscovered, some wondered if they could look deeper still. They stood before the mirror and saw that what lived behind the joy was a sense of their own divinity. They stood very still not wanting to walk away from the absolute sacredness they had just felt. The easy thing to do was to enjoy all they had felt, and keep it for themselves. They could stay with the joy and vitality they had uncovered for themselves, or go deeper still.

Some stayed basking in that joy for a long time, others knew that over time, without going deeper, they would just turn the joy into a new surface image; one that made them at best ‘comfortable’ and at worst ‘special’.

As always the mirror was impartial – the choice was theirs.

A few let go of the layers they had previously protected themselves with, appreciating the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them. After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally.

In that moment they became a Mirror that Never Lies: others who looked into their eyes now had the chance to see that they too are much more than the outer image they project to the world.

  1. Another of Joel’s amazing parables, ‘The mirror was impartial to those who stayed and those who moved on. All it could do is reflect to the depth people chose. The choice to do something about what you saw was always yours. However, without this reflection, there was no way for people to see the possibility that things were not as they seemed.’

  2. I know from experience that the body never lies. Today the title sticks with me – the mirror never lies. It’s true in those who are those mirrors.

    1. The mirror never lies, ‘others who looked into their eyes now had the chance to see that they too are much more than the outer image they project to the world.’

  3. “The mirror was impartial to those who stayed and those who moved on.” It’s a great word impartial about the mirror, it’s not cold but it’s not attached to whatever the outcome is, it leaves people to have space while it stays solid in the love and truth.

  4. We get what we give, and there is no bargain to be had, what is simply is – but we think we can and that it the trouble.

  5. What a reflection comes with is a responsibility and being Sacred is a responsibility for everything, and seeing our reflection is our greatest form of communication. When we walk in Sacredness others feel the True responsibility of everything we live.

  6. I love a mirror – they never lie. So often I look at myself in the morning and see exactly how i have been: totally in-love with myself, with a sparkle in my eyes. Or in complete abuse, with sadness glaring through.

  7. Beautiful. The deeper we are willing to feel into our inner-most being the more we become aware of the amazingness of who we all are.

  8. The beauty is we do not need a mirror to look deeper into who we are, all that is needed is a willingness and intention and a love for ourselves and life, however it sure helps having others who live this way to reflect back to you. #inspiration.

  9. Pondering on the saying “The Mirror never Lies”, I realise that I used to feel that it did, as the reflection it presented to me was often not how I felt inside. In fact, some days I used to be quite shocked at what was reflected back. But these days I have come to understand that the feeling that it was ‘lying’ comes from me not wanting to see who I truly am; I was refusing to allow my eyes to see the truth.

    1. Wow, Ingrid, this is so true. Sometimes we see what we want to see, avoid the truth or be open to seeing it all, the whole truth.

  10. This is a deeply moving read, it expresses so clearly how we are with reflections of truth, love and divinity. You covered the different groups very well, those content on the surface, those chasing images, those going deeper within themselves, and those screaming for the mirror to be removed. Beautiful wisdom, thank you Joel.

  11. I love this Joel. It wonderfully depicts exactly how most choose to approach their own reflection, not just from the mirror they look into each morning but also in life. I have found people or situations are constellated to show us what we are doing in life too. Often these are the aspects of life we most hate, yet are the ones we can most learn from.

    1. There is a beautiful equality when we understand life by reflection, as everyone is reflecting and offering something no matter where we are in our return to our Soul.

    2. People equally reflect aspects of ourselves, these reflections present opportunities to learn, ‘It was the mirror of Love and Free Will, a mirror that never lied and that allowed people to be seen by others exactly how they themselves chose to be seen’.

  12. Every interaction or experience we have with another is constantly providing us reflections to learn from and if we are wise we embrace the opportunity to grow from them.

    1. And the opposite of this is choosing to react, an easy way to not take responsibility and we currently have more irresponsibility in the world than embracing responsibility. So, the more people who reflect truth and responsibility, then more people will be inspired.

  13. ‘The more they dropped the facade, the more joy and vitality came to the surface.’ Yep.. not being or claiming who we truly are is a draining and depleting way to live. We have a choice: full throttle going for it and being ourselves across the board, as fully and transparently as we can be, or holding it back, hiding, half committing: every choice to be ourselves or not either builds our vitality or depletes it.

  14. Very very cool parable. Looking in the mirror should be a part of your own development. Even if you so-called ‘hated’ yourself and were fully abusive towards yourself, if you looked past this and focused on looking deep into your own eyes you would have to see there is love. I do not know how else to express this — this would just be. We all know that inside us no matter what, we are who we are, and that is Love.

  15. ‘The choice to do something about what you saw was always yours.’ This is so true, do we want to stay with images and what we see, or do we want to connect or re-connect with something far more sacred within. I choose the latter.

  16. Sometimes we stray so far away from the truth of who we are, we may be afraid to look in the mirror to see what is being reflected back but the truth is, like what you’ve shared Joel, when we look past the layers the core of who we are never truly changes because in essence, we are all love.

  17. For so many, including myself, Serge Benhayon is the most clear living ‘Mirror that Never Lies’.

  18. How willing are we to let our divinity be seen? And reading this I can feel that point is when we get over how the world sees us, and knowing and understanding that we have a wider purpose here, one that is all about living and showing the divinity we are, so we can be that mirror for all we meet.

  19. Mirrors never lie, it is only us who lie when we either don’t like or will not accept what is being reflected back to us.

    1. Yes, I have certainly witnessed this and also done it myself, reject the reflection we have been offered because it brings up an old hurt or highlights the fact that we have been avoiding responsibility.

  20. We can try perfecting the image, but we all know there’s something more. We pretend there isn’t but the more we try, the more tension gets built and we may like to think there’s a choice to ignore what’s truly there, but eventually we will all find ourselves returning and there really is no other choice.

  21. It is a beatuiful thing, to look into the mirror at your own eyes, and accept the depth of beauty and wisdom that is looking back at you.

  22. The norm of the world is asking for us to present our best image for them to see, so we can just see each other in superficiality, do not change the game and look deeper, well you can, but we won’t play with you—you won’t have the same recognition and rewards we have. But letting go of our external facade brings out a freedom that relying on the external facade could never bring, and the joy and freedom felt simply keeps us going.

  23. Confirmation is a layered business. We may be confirmed at the outward layer. We can also be confirmed at the innest one and at anything in between them. What is confirmed in each case is something totally different and has to do with the fact that we are living dimensions.

  24. When a ‘son of man’ looks into a mirror with an open heart, he begins to see the Son of God he is. When the Son of God looks into the mirror with a far greater opening of his heart, he sees through to the God we each in essence are. This is what mirrors teach those who peer into them in earnest for there is no end to the depth we can go. The more transparent we each become, the greater reflection we can offer others as to the truth of who they (us all) are.

  25. A living example of a mirror that never lies is Serge Benhayon, 24/7 reflecting the absolute truth of what life on earth is really about: how to live together in brotherhood and to return to the multidimensional beings we are.

  26. This line is huge-
‘A few let go of the layers they had previously protected themselves with, appreciating the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them. After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally’.
What stands out in particular is the part that says- they appreciated the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them’ such a huge lesson but one well worth the move.

  27. The more we care and nurture ourselves the more willing we are to see life as the reflection with all that we need to learn (or should I say unlearn) but also all that confirms our choices.

  28. ‘to explore the choices they were making – what they were eating, how they were working, how they were relating to themselves and others’. It is always good to do a stock take and refine when impulsed.

  29. This is a beautiful analogy of the true power that is on offer through our relationships with each other. Each one offering the opportunity to reflect the quality of who we are, to expose who we are not and to confirm everything that we are through the level truth and love we live for ourselves and each other. We only need to be open to honesty and to be willing to say ‘yes’ to love and truth in order to bring to life these unifying qualities in order for us to embrace the opportunity to live more harmoniously.

  30. Yes….”After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally.” It is true I have witnessed this reflection and now I walk knowing this truth myself and I reflect this knowing in how I live, express and move – I learn every day to live more of this glory on earth.

  31. Embracing the reflections is key, as often we reject or try to pretend we haven’t clocked the reflection so as not to take responsibility for the next point of evolution on offer.

    1. Or worse is when we attack the reflections we receive from people who are offering us opportunities to evolve. So when we receive attacks it is often someone attacking our loving reflections and it makes it so much easier to depersonalise attacks when we understand energetically what is truly going on. But in truth, pretending that we don’t clock the reflection and attacking it is equally as harmful.

  32. The power of reflection and choice – reflection supports us in seeing more of who we are and reminds us that there is more; and choice it’s up to us how we live that reflection, it’s agnostic in what we do, but a true reflection holds steady no matter what and in doing so offers all the possibility of seeing the divinity of who we all are. And eventually all of us will live this.

  33. That mirror is everywhere, all around us and in everybody we meet. Sometimes harder to decipher but it is there.

    1. So true Christoph, it does feel like we have mirrors everywhere and in everyone we meet. Sometimes we can forget that these reflections are actually deeply loving, even though at times they may seem like a huge challenge, they are simply a reflection and when we understand this life is a joy.

  34. When we choose to look deeper and take responsibility for what we see reflected to us by the mirror of life, we are given the opportunity to feel and heal all that does not belong to our true selves.

    1. We are always offered opportunities to evolve and to heal but we often don’t see these opportunities due to our addiction to delaying our evolution.

  35. The mirror never lies but as you say we often choose what we see in the mirror and that can be very clouded and not what is truly there.

    1. The mirror shows the truth and we can turn it into a lie and we know what we just did as the mirror is showing us.

      1. That’s why we often reject, react or attempt to smash a mirror metaphorically speaking.

  36. “Those who looked deeper saw that no matter how perfect their outer image was, they also saw sadness in their eyes, or hardness in their shoulders, or the extra weight that they carried.” I love this, there is such a care and love in just seeing what is going on for us if we are not truly doing well by honestly seeing our own reflection in a mirror, looking beyond the images we are portraying and seeing ourselves as.

  37. A beautiful parable for how the journey within, the willingness to see and be honest and to live respecting that allows all of us to come back to the divinity we are.

  38. Joel, I just love reading your blogs – reading this is such a confirmation that we are constantly reflecting to each other and I love reflecting more and more who I truly am.

  39. “As always the mirror was impartial – the choice was theirs.” The reflection is always the truth of what we choose to see.

  40. It is worth considering what reflection we are each offering the world. We can never stop reflecting no matter how much we may think we can live in our own little world…the question is what quality are we reflecting?

  41. When the world is against you and feeding you the many things it sees you as, you can always return to the truth of who you are. We are all loving beings and that knowing is there within if we allow it.

  42. I can relate to seeing people shout to take the mirror away, sometimes the reality of the reflection is very confronting and asks us to address choices we do not want to take responsibility for. If we support each other by showing that regardless of how fearful it looks, it is far safer to look and address what is holding us back, than to delay, as the delay will poison our bodies till we have to look whether we are ready or not.

  43. Wow amazing to consider that we can all become mirrors of tremendous honesty and authenticity in the world for each other to learn from.

  44. How do we relate to ourselves and others? What would the world look like if we studied this deeply, from young? Our relationship with ourselves is so fundamental to everything else, that addressing that helps us to let go of unhelpful behaviours that get in the way of us being who we really are, all of the time.

  45. If we are willing to take an honest look everything is revealed to us. The power of reflection is a true gift and we get to see all that may have been layered over that which is already divine, or we see divinity meeting itself.

  46. I love the magic of what is presented here we get inspired and shown by life how we are and we can then choose to take it deeper, or not until we get to the pinpoint where we are in fact mirroring for others and we can all do this for each other.

  47. The willingness to look beyond the surface is the key to understanding ourselves and our choices. It’s not always fun nor is it easy, but when we realise that we’re already enough, it’s easier to let go of striving for perfection and hence everything becomes simple again.

  48. To look in a mirror that never lies is a gift from heaven. If we want to truly heal and we want to see what we bring to the world we would have no fear of looking because we would see our own divinity. Yet we are taught to be ashamed of making mistakes and not being perfect and therefore when there is a reflection that we are not perfect, all too often we blame the messenger, or the reflection, rather than address the layer of protection that hides our own divinity.

    1. And it is our lack of self-worth that fogs the mirror and makes looking in it fearful. Self-appreciation is the polish than cleans the mirror so we can look without fear.

  49. our reflection is gold because we can see everything we are and everything we have put between who we truly are.. And so meanwhile we can sense the divine reflection we are being pulled up to re-discover more of who we are and live by it.

  50. When I look in the mirror these days I’m sometimes surprised how great I look. My face is open and tender. The mirror reflects my joy while my mind creates the image how I see myself. It is reflection on what I’m focusing on.

  51. Joel, I could come back to this blog time and time again and always get something different from it – such a beautiful parable on the reflections we are constantly offered in life.

  52. We invest so much of our time in trying to create and chase a perfect image of ourselves and the lives we live, that we overlook the fact that who we are within far exceeds the fallacy of perfection, instead inviting us to explore and discover the realness of who we are, and the joy we can naturally live when we surrender to and embody our divinity.

  53. ‘The choice to do something about what you saw was always yours. However, without this reflection, there was no way for people to see the possibility that things were not as they seemed’. And the ever-present mirror our constant teacher, wills us to reflect more deeply, go beyond what we see on the surface and let go of all that does not belong and is not of love.

  54. I loved what you shared in your blog Joel, being willing to go deeper knowing there is more to let go of and more light to be lived and reflected out to the whole world, “A few let go of the layers they had previously protected themselves with, appreciating the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them. After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally.”

  55. Universal Medicine, Serge and his family have been that mirror for me over the years and I am sure many more would attest the same. It was not always a perfect reflection, sometimes I wanted to smash the mirror, sometimes I wanted to avoid it but most of the time I was so appreciative that I could see my own beauty, that a vail had been lifted and I could feel the beauty everywhere.

  56. So much is offered in a reflection, and many choices to how we move there after.

  57. Lovely to read this again and it made me appreciate yet again what an amazing ‘Mirror that Never Lies” is Serge Benhayon.

  58. Were we all to be so truly observational in life, Joel Levin. Thank-you.

  59. And so it goes, as we go ’round and ’round, encircling the Sun and coming back lifetime after lifetime…
We are all potentially such mirrors – for all.
How others react or respond… well, that’s up to them. Either way, the presence of Divinity has been felt and it remains a marker of what is possible for us all.

  60. I’ve loved this blog since the first time I read it. Today I was thinking as I read it ‘I know who that mirror is in my life’ but then that ending caught me by surprise, not because I’ve never read it but I felt the truth in my body of those words “appreciating the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them. After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally.” I too am that mirror and it’s pretty cool.

  61. Thank you Joel, what a huge blog, one of power in realization too.
This sentence totally blew away my mind…
‘A few let go of the layers they had previously protected themselves with, appreciating the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them. After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally.’
What stood out was this particular part: ‘.., appreciating the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them.’
From my heart what I sense is the only thing that is keeping us small is our choice to be individual, separative and or wanting to exist – as if we make it about the whole truth (universality, Oneness and togetherness) we instantly live our future and are putting individuality before anything. Because we are not made for that as we co-exist with all everything else.

  62. When we look into the mirror what we see getting reflected back to us from the world around us may be uncomfortable and exposing but nonetheless presents us with an awareness and opportunity to change what we see.

  63. We choose (create) the character and we work hard to be confirmed as such. Such confirmation makes our day. Such sought confirmation, yet, discourages others to keep looking, to keep observing and to keep registering what they are registering about someone beyond the character and the sought image. And, yet, there is a dweller underneath it that is truer than the created character.

  64. The outer image that I bought into for a long time was to be the reliable, strong one and be there for everyone else, which meant that I was neglecting my own needs which left me exhausted. Thankfully these days I love to give to myself in ways that truly support me – simple things like going to bed early, being organised with food which truly nourishes my body, asking and receiving support because I am worth it, and much more….And I reflect to others all the choices I am living as we all do.

  65. What you share here is sharing so much in one, from the way in which we can hold ourselves indifferent to our true reflection and our free will to uncover and how far we go, it is for us to choose.

  66. Such a beautiful parable Joel. We see what we want to see in the mirror. I can look so different from one day to the next, all depending on how I feel.

  67. A great blog Joel, it had me smiling right from the start, a mirror that never lies, it made me realise how easy it would be to see ourselves with the reflection we present, when we are all capable of looking more deeply at ourselves and change our reflection, just by making more loving and honest choices, it is always a deeper unfolding that continues the more we uncover our true selves.

  68. I love how us choosing to see the divinity within others would mean allowing others to see their own divinity within, if they choose to, and that’s how we evolve back, all together.

  69. It always fascinates me how I can look different in the mirror according to how I feel, what I’ve chosen and what things I have taken on, I actually can look different from one day to the next – our bodies never lie!

  70. The power of reflection is so rarely talked about, yet it’s something that affects us deeply everyday. The fact that there are so many societal norms that are self abusive makes me wonder if how people live reflect a norm that others give their power to. If everyone is doing the same thing is that through reflection? If it is then what’s our responsibility to reflect everyday, and what is reflected back to us about how society is? When a more evolved or more loving reflection comes along what do we do with that, especially if it stands alone? Do we yell at it to go away, choose to change, or ignore it and stay with the majority? And what about what our own body reflects to us everyday, do we go with what feels true inside ourselves? So much to ponder on thank you Joel!

  71. A powerful reminder that there is no end to the depth of connection to our divinity that is eternally waiting to be realised, lived and expressed through all that we do and all we meet here on earth.

  72. Another extraordinarily powerful blog Joel. I shall endeavour to bring these words to mind daily “The mirror was impartial to those who stayed and those who moved on. All it could do is reflect to the depth people chose. The choice to do something about what you saw was always yours. However, without this reflection, there was no way for people to see the possibility that things were not as they seemed.”

  73. “Some used these reflections to refine their choices – they took responsibility for what they saw and knew the only change worth making was to go deeper and become more responsible for their choices.” Every day from others and from life we are offered reflections, the choice is ours as to whether we are open to receive these reflections, so we can go deeper in our evolution.

  74. So much on offer here for us…”All it could do is reflect to the depth people chose. The choice to do something about what you saw was always yours. However, without this reflection, there was no way for people to see the possibility that things were not as they seemed.” I feel blessed to have so many reflections from Universal Medicine practitioners and students. What do we choose?

  75. I find this blog an incredible gift to read. I always find I go deeper each time in what it offers. Just like the reflections we are offered, if we are willing to go deeper there is evolution on offer. Thank you joel.

  76. There are times when I have had a deeper understanding or reflection of myself and can feel that I don’t fully live all that I am. It is also very beautiful when others reflect and share with us something different through what they live or when they share something grander they feel in us that invites us to live this more deeply.

  77. Joel reading this today I got a deeper understanding of how the joy we feel and see is not just for us, and how it’s about living that joy in a way that shows another ever and always that they too are that joy – to become the mirror for another, so that they too may be who they are and become a mirror for another and anon. We are designed to ripple out and affect all around us living the joy we are, it’s not just for us, it’s for all.

  78. Awesome to be reminded that we don’t have to do anything (trying to help, fix solve other’s problems), we just have to live true to ourselves and its all there in our reflection.

  79. “Some used these reflections to refine their choices – they took responsibility for what they saw and knew the only change worth making was to go deeper and become more responsible for their choices.” What reflections are we willing to show ourselves and the world? How far does our responsibility go?

  80. Thank you Joel for the reminder that we are here to be reflections for each other and not just to enjoy – or otherwise – what we see in the mirror.

  81. Everything is a reflection and this is a beautiful gift in support of us and what is available if we choose to be open to reading this. A beautiful parable – thank you Joel

  82. Beautiful parable about reflection – without reflection we wouldn´t know who we are. We are each other´s gate to more of ourselves and because everyone reflects a unique aspect or from a unique angle everyone is needed equally for everyone to be all of oneself.

  83. Thank you Joel for another great read, of being willing to see what is being reflected back to us and choose to go deeper letting go of the facade of our living to claim the essence of who we are, a reflection of light and love to the world.

  84. Bringing to light the importance of our reflection to humanity. Always inspiring to ready your expression Joel, thank you.

  85. Another great blog Joel, and one that reminds me that everything in life is a reflection that if I am willing to see, supports me continuously to evolve. Such a far cry from the usual approach to life whereby when something isn’t to our ‘liking’, we will rally against it, doing our best to control things in such a way as to avoid the reflection offered.

  86. I love this blog as it says it all in a way that everyone can understand and gauge just where they are at. I also love this last line as it is inspires us to keep on going deeper. . . ‘In that moment they became a Mirror that Never Lies: others who looked into their eyes now had the chance to see that they too are much more than the outer image they project to the world’

  87. As I beautifully heard it uttered recently, every single one of us is a point of reflection, every single one of us is a symbol to the rest of the world. What we reflect, what we symbolise is our choice, and how deep we choose to go with this is also our choice. We can choose to reflect the surface outer layers and the harshness of daily life taking its toll on a body that chooses to stay at the surface level of its being, or we can go deeper and let everyone around us see and feel the endless lake that surrounds the stillness of our being, our fire, and the universal love within us, that we are all from.

  88. I loved reading this again and how much sense it makes for how we go about our lives. What are we willing to see ourselves as? Just another person with a role in the world, or as a vessel who can continue to deepen and grow and be honest and make choices that are based on love and not our role.

  89. From this incredible journey of a blog I got that life is the true reflection of our choices. Life doesn’t lie and we are responsible and accountable for the consequences of our choices. Be in the grace of having chose to be love and be open to people or the stagnation and complication of shutting off from the world. It seems to come back to us to look at.

  90. Awesome to be reminded of the impartiality of true reflections, there is no imposition, no needing others to ‘get it’ just a reflection that allows others the choice to be inspired in any moment.

    1. Yes, I had not actually appreciated this as I am not sure I have met that many impartial reflections! Those that I have have been the most inspirational and have offered me the most responsibility for my own healing.

  91. It is in the power of reflection that we can learn so much about ourselves but it requires an absolute honesty. First in my observation of how I am feeling in my body and then feeling and reading what is there in front of me in others and all around me.

  92. Thank you Joel for a Divine reflection. The deeper we choose to be aware the clearer the reflection that shines back.

  93. This mirror is in the town square not in someone’s house. There comes a time when it is obvious that we can only truly go deeper if we are willing to be transparent and wear our heart on our sleeve so to speak.

  94. I can feel that Serge Benhayon has been that mirror for me and continues to be so unwaveringly. And recently I have been experiencing more that I too am that mirror for others, that we are all mirrors of quality that can be felt. The question is then, what quality am I reflecting? and what is my relationship with reflecting Love and Free Will? Choices are made and choices are repeated, but they can also be changed. Focusing on what has been chosen avoids how we can feel to reflect now.

  95. From the first sentence I knew I was reading an article by you Joel and allowed myself to be taken on a journey of great wisdom through your story telling. It is always a pleasure and a joy to learn through your words and have reflected to me exactly what I need to see. Love your work Maestro.

  96. God is reflected to us in so many ways, and for most of my life I discounted them, until I saw a mirror that reflected with humbleness, integrity and joy, how to live life without distractions and indulgences. I am so grateful for Serge Benhayon being that mirror and inspiring so many others to be that mirror for others.

  97. I really love this story. What I am getting today is how there really is no space for self when it comes to evolution. We keep reflecting to each other – no matter what, and this is the way we learn – and often we wait until reflection becomes the reality in our own life to feel the full impact – which could be rather uncomfortable.

  98. What would we do without the mirror? For some it may seem too ‘out there’ to consider their divinity within, but there is always a reflection saying we are something more.

  99. The reflections that we have all around us are there for our evolution if we choose to take the responsible path or we can, as most do, ignore them and instead blame others for how things are when life is less than the joy we could be living.

  100. Reflection, is a class we will return to one day to study in learning/education institutions. The power of reflection brings everything back to the body, and from the support of the body we can choose to take our next step; whereas education presently takes us away from the body and focuses only on the mind. This is a class I will sign up first and foremost, with reflection I could see everything if I choose to—love, wisdom, truth, waywardness, presence, joy, emotions etc. and the power of honesty.

  101. I love this blog and what it offers. That in life we have reflections everywhere- different people showing us different things and that we can either ignore this, go deeper with it or react to what we are being shown- the choice is always ours.

  102. “…they became a Mirror that Never Lies: others who looked into their eyes now had the chance to see that they too are much more than the outer image they project to the world.” This describes the power of reflection. A revelation I was able to feel in my whole body today. This is where the power of our connection lies. To hold this connection to our divinity with strength, tenderness, and steadiness for all to see the reflection that they too are the same… and this can be lived in a world that has been created to see the exact opposite.

  103. Joel, this is such a great parable for how we live in the world and the opportunities offered to us via reflection and as you note ‘without this reflection, there was no way for people to see the possibility that things were not as they seemed.’ We are always offered so much to see and it’s our choice how deep we decide to go. What I also noticed today was that if we stop even if it’s at joy over time that stagnates, we are always offered the possibility to go deeper and this never ever stops. So it’s always about being willing to see what is reflected in those mirrors all around us.

  104. Wow, Joel re-reading this blog has left me with a lot for deep pondering. We are all aware that people make various choices that accounts for how they live. However it’s a new ball game for many to consider that although there are images being constantly reflected, what is revealed is only in accordance with the depth to which the person is prepared to let themselves go. It certainly adds another dimension to the term ‘self responsibility’. Thank you for the gentle nudge to us all to keep checking what is being reflected in our mirrors.

  105. This is such a great read, showing how we choose to have different level of relationships with our awareness and the consequential unfoldings – as to what we take as our ‘self’ and life to be. I love how there are some seeming arrived-at points where we could just go ‘ok, that’ll do’. It is a great analogy too to see ourselves as a mirror in making – learning to understand how we might have set conditions and expectations as to what and how we reflect back, and to let them go.

    1. It is indeed an enfolding and not an ‘arrived-point’ to settle in. It is very tempting, but that is exactly where the danger lays – it might become a new layer of comfort. Therefore looking myself in the Mirror with a willingness to receive a deeper reflection is essential for my own enfoldment.

  106. i understand that it is not always what we want to see Joel when we stand in the front of that mirror, as what you say, the mirror can only reflect that what is in front of it in all its honesty and beauty. It is up to us te become truthful with ourselves and be thankful for the mirror to be there, as that mirror is only put there to help us to see and understand that we are divine beings to begin with, and all the other stuf is there because of our choices to live a life in disregard of this truth. Accepting that what the mirror is proving us does makes us a mirror for others as well.

  107. Beautiful Joel. Accepting our divinity is not just for ourselves but there to provide a reflection for others to also realise that they are this as well and therein lies the great responsibility we have to live all that we truly are.

  108. Such power in a parable. I’m deeply touched and it has brought up feelings of appreciation for those who continue to choose to go deeper and for myself.

  109. “Some stayed basking in that joy for a long time, others knew that over time, without going deeper, they would just turn the joy into a new surface image; one that made them at best ‘comfortable’ and at worst ‘special’.” This is so true Dean and where I have been caught out before, stopping to enjoy my new found freedom and making it into my new surface image and from there it doesn’t take long to fallback into my old ways of being.

  110. What if our whole life on earth would be a mirror that doesn’t lie? If we really allowed ourselves to look, we would see, that we are not well. And that the solution cannot be to improve myself, but that life is about all of humanity.

  111. The blog beautifully describes my experience with true love and Serge Benhayon. For me he has been this mirror you describe Joel – consistently impartial, allowing others to see and feel deeper if they choose. I love how you show that we can all become ‘mirrors’ too, when we choose to make love our way.

    1. It’s true Jospeh, Serge, in fact, all the Benhayon and a few other students have been some of the most inspirational mirrors I have seen.

    2. Serge Benhayon was the first mirror I thought of reading Joel’s blog too Joseph… as he always stands there reflecting who we all are in truth with no attachment.

  112. It was great reading your blog again today Joel. I realise how many mirrors (in the form of people) I have around me, and how I avoid looking in some at all costs. It is sometimes hard to look because I can see where I am not taking responsibility. Your parable shows me that there is always a deeper place to go to and that we should never settle for better.

    1. Great point, Debra, that we can studiously avoid those people around us who will reflect back to us our irresponsibility when we want to shirk the truth of our choices.

  113. Every time I read this blog I am touched by how in itself, it reflects truth in so many ways. The beautiful allegory and metaphor of the mirror you place in front of us Joel, shows the simple power we all have to inspire and support others. Just by the quality of impartiality we reflect being divine. The shallowness or the depth received depends then on what you as the viewer are willing to see.

  114. Wow how incredible blog, this reveals all truth in life. What struck me was: ..without going deeper, they would just turn the joy into a new surface image; one that made them at best ‘comfortable’ and at worst ‘special’. This is brilliant, a real revelation. We are what we choose and live, and so if we choose to stay with a certain type of joy, love, truth, we are actually limiting ourselves and soon enough it will be ‘Comfort’. Second to that, this shows us the power of reflection that we carry inside us and that is visable through our eyes. I know, Serge Benhayon has been that mirror for me, at the same time Natalie Benhayon and Curtis Benhayon. They have been true mirrors of always deepening the love they are and life. Now to me that is rare, good and fun! They inspire me. So are we inspirations for everyone we meet, in all of our unique ways (no matter were you are at).

  115. I love all the reflections we get from each other. I learn equally from the reflections that are true and also from the reflections I receive of when someone is not being themselves. They both show me how much we are all affecting each other.

  116. We are so good at hiding the many layers that make us who we are, by just concentrating on making the outer

  117. Joel this is a simple yet powerful sharing. To always be open to the true reflections that are on offer to us everyday – what an opportunity for us to go deeper and to make more loving choices.

  118. A great reminder that we can take responsibility for the choices we make and go deeper to reflect more of who we truly are, or hide behind a false façade so as not to stand out.

  119. ‘They feared how the world would see them’ yep that’s me. I have carried this fear for as long as I can remember. When I observe Serge Benhayon and listen to his presentations I am inspired to live like him. He is not a strange man by any means. He doesn’t come across as weird. So if I want to live a life like Serge’s then why do I fear that the world is going to see me as strange?

  120. A truly reflective blog. Serge Benhayon is a mirror that reflects everything about us back to us and it is our choice to appreciate and accept who we truly are and to observe and heal what we have chosen that is not of who we truly are.

    1. Beautifully said Mary, Serge Benhayon offers us all a reflection that reminds us of who we truly are, an incredibly powerful and deeply inspiring image to receive.

  121. Reading this blog again today I am reminded how mirrors reflect light to all angles, and do not pick and choose who they will reflect light to. A magnificent piece of writing Joel that encourages true reflection in every sense.

    1. Love this Joseph, the mirror is unmoved, unconcerned by what it reflects or who it reflects it to. It is that very consistency we value about it.

      1. Great points Joseph and Joel. It is worth reminding ourselves that we can’t hide our reflections, despite any front we try and put on. We may be able to superficially fool a few people who are avoiding acknowledging what they see but don’t want to notice, but nonetheless the real truth of where we are at and how we are living is there for all to see and can’t be hidden. It’s in the look in our eyes, our posture, our tone of voice etc. This is a great reminder for me to consider what I reflect to others: is it something that is inspiring or confirming or is it something sad, hurt and angry etc?

      2. So true Helen, our entire life is there to be read in an instant, regardless of the make up and clothing.

  122. It’s so true. If we stay still, basking in the glow of a new found depth, it becomes less than we could be. We must always go deeper and evolve if we are to truly serve as great reflections for anyone to be inspired by. We can all do this for each other and others can do this for us.

  123. Such a beautiful piece of writing Joel, thank you, that reminds us all that we choose to be where we are, the ultimate responsibility.

  124. Joel, I feel to highlight an insightful point you have made: “Some stayed basking in that joy for a long time, others knew that over time, without going deeper, they would just turn the joy into a new surface image; one that made them at best ‘comfortable’ and at worst ‘special’.” When we experience deep joy, sacredness or stillness there can be a tendency to hold onto it or think we have got somewhere and if we try to keep it for ourselves we create a comfortable plateau and hold ourselves back from moving forward and from sharing the joy with others. In our arrogance we isolate ourselves from humanity, and if we take such a god-given realization for ourselves it can actually stunt our growth rather than expand us.

  125. Joel, there is an amazing stillness in your descriptions of people’s choosing to look into the mirror and to see what’s there, to accept it and to look deeper.

  126. I love how every day is one big mirror, from the moment I wake up till the moment I close my eyes. And then even my dreams and how I sleep are a mirror. In every moment I get a reflection and every moment reflects back what I present. Thank Joel.

  127. So good to read Joel. It becomes so apparent the facade we put on when we start looking deeper. We start to wonder why we feel this way and why we feel that way, the choices we have made and the way our life has ended up. When we realise this is all our responsibility, we realise we can also change it all.

    1. Holding that fact that we can change it all feels to me as a very important key to life, I don’t live this everyday but in the times I have life has changed. The blaming and reacting and avoiding our power to change and heal is not doing us any favours.

  128. This is a great parable Joel, as it covers everything. Very inspiring. It is great to welcome all reflections no matter how unflattering the are. It is also great to be able to live the future now by taking on the impartial attitude of the clear mirror when noting something that needs working on. In this way we are not adding to the murkiness of the mirror we are so willing to clean and clear.

    1. A great reminder kathleenbaldwin, for us to welcome all reflections no matter how unflattering they are. Wonderful to be shown what is there to be worked on. And great to be able to live the future now by being willing to work on those reflections, to keep the mirror clear.

    2. kathleenbaldwin, as you say it’s ‘great to welcome all reflections’. Sometimes we may not like what we see in the mirror but if we react we are not receiving the gift offered which is a chance to embrace honesty, take responsibility and move forward.

      1. Absolutely Sandra. There are many of us who don’t always like the reflection we see, but as you say if we take the opportunity to stop to embrace it rather than go into a reaction, we can see it as a true gift. There is always something more there for us to learn about ourselves, to feel and embrace and in doing so we can begin to let go of our hurts. This may seem like a small thing, but it can in fact be life changing. From a tiny seed, a great tree can grow!

  130. The choice to do something from what we see in the mirror is always ours, how true.
We can complain or as you say dress to an image we want the world to see. But the mirror never lies, always everything can be seen, like as you said the sad eyes, the heavy heart etc. The empty body.

      1. Absolutely Sandra there is no hiding, just a great pull to not see the truth of the choices we make, for when we do we see the true responsibility we each have to life.

  131. So true Linda, that willingness to see and feel ALL there is to be felt is interesting, because we can so easily convince ourselves that that is what we are doing right now, but the reality is there is always more.

    1. So true Joel, there is always more just waiting for us to see it and go deeper. Once you have felt the more it is very difficult to go back, even if you do, what you have felt and now know, is there just waiting for you to return to that truth and live it in full.

  132. Great story Joel what I got from it is how the divinity within us all is equal, but how much of it we choose to accept and live from is up to us. And then if another reflects a life lived more from this divinity than what we have chosen so far we can either react to it and deny it or we can be inspired to bring it out in ourselves more.

  133. What I realize Joel is that everyone has a lot of mirrors around them every day. We just have to choose to see all the different reflections we get from others and be willing to look at it. And also it is great to realize that we ourselves are walking mirrors as well.

    1. Diana1975 that is so true what you share in your command but my experiences was that our gift of reflecting each other is not seen as such or shall I say is not wanted to be seen like this. I had to learn that this is their choice and I for myself can choose to be a reflection to the best of my ability.

      1. Yes esteraltmiks, It is a choice to see the reflection. On a deeper level I am convinced that everything is always felt even if we choose to ignore it. Because we need to feel something before we can ignore it.

      2. I relate to this too esteraltmiks, we darken our own mirror so that others don’t complain about what they are seeing, when what they are seeing is the truth of themselves.

    2. So true Diana1975 we are constantly being offered reflections from those around us and as you say the difficult part can be in choosing to see and learn from what is offered. Knowing that we each offer this equally is amazing really as it shows that no-one is ever shown more than another, what differs is our willingness to see it and learn from it. Life becomes far less complicated when we see the truth that abounds in every moment if we are open to what we are being shown.

      1. Hi Jade, I love and agree with what you share here “Life becomes far less complicated when we see the truth that abounds in every moment if we are open to what we are being shown.”

    3. Yes Kristy, and it still amazes me that all encounters with different people are never just random, but if we are open to it they, and we, always offer a reflection.

  134. Reflections of love, a ‘mirror that never lies’, profound to consider. How else will we know there is another ay to live. Awesome, thank you.

  135. I feel deeply touched by your article Joel – it is exquisite! How many times have we heard the expression ‘the eyes are the window (mirror) of the soul’ without either party truly appreciating the depth of truth in this pearl of wisdom.

  136. As always Joel I was captivated by your ability to bring the divinity you do into words and grace us with the wisdom in yet another of your awesome metaphorical stories. A pleasure and a blessing to read.

  137. Joel, your parables bring such a depth of wisdom and truth and an opportunity for true reflection. Deeply appreciated, thank you!

  138. So true Joel – the mirror never lies. It always reflects me where I’m at with myself – am I connected to myself or not and sometimes it is not easy to accept if I shouldn’t be connected.

  139. This is just how life is – if only we looked at it this way, we might understand so much more why our world is as it is and discover our own Divinity and that we have been living far away from it.

  140. Joel you are a master storyteller that takes the reader on a journey to become aware of things we may have forgotten or chosen to ignore, but always has a purpose. Leonardo da Vinci did with paint what you with words.

  141. Joel reading that brought tears to my eyes. I felt what being a student of the way of the livingness is, and the true reflection on offer. The level of responsibility one can choose to live, and what a gift that responsibility is for another. To give another a reflection, of the true light that they are.

  142. Could you be saying that we see what we want to? I’ve always found it amazing how two totally different people can see the same situation in two totally different ways. I find this a great reminder when I have having trouble appreciating a difficult situation, that maybe there is another way I could be seeing it.

  143. Very cool Joel. Beautifully reflecting that the depth of divinity that we are is all-encompassing and never-ending. And how we only limit living the grandness of love that we naturally and equally are through the choices we make.

  144. This inspired blog is so enlightening Joel, it has given me much to ponder on and to seriously look harder at the reflection in the mirror and what it reveals and make the changes in myself. I love your analogy of the mirror of reflection, just perfect.

  145. Written like a story from my childhood that I can still remember as the style is very catchy. And the message (not moral) is: Choosing responsibility in the face of truth is reclaiming who we are, discarding the falseness layer by layer so that we return back to where we come from to be who we always were but had forgotten.

    1. Yes, I felt that too Alex but didn’t really allow myself the time and space for it register until I read your comment. Thank you.

  146. Seeing a reflection, feeling inspired, opening up with honesty, taking responsibility for our choices, going deeper with that again and again – and on this way inspiring others to feel and do the same – that is what life is truly about.

  147. Thank you Joel. Every line that you wrote went deeper and deeper, just as we have the choice to let go, surrender and go deeper with every step that we take.

  148. Reflection is something that one can actively have awareness of or not. Sometimes a reflection can be very exposing, something that keeps coming up over and over again, so to bring awareness to it can be an ouch. But the science of reflection can be incredibly supportive and show us where our hurts are and what we can focus on to heal. It is and can be truly amazing.

  149. I love to read this blog over and over. It gives me a deeper reflection every time. This blog is about evolution written in such a light and playfull way. It shows that we have a choice and the impacts our choices have. A choice can lead to evolving or keep you in comfort.

  150. And this is the name of the game – reflection. It’s like you can’t make a choice of what to eat unless you know what is on the menu. If we don’t know there is a way to live that is full of love, light and healing, in our very human way, then of course we are not going to live it! Having the option then when reflected, it is completely up to us what we decide to ‘eat’ (so to speak).

  151. Joel, this is just beautiful, and shows that going deeper with us eventually leads us all to a point where we choose to be it with others and become a mirror for all. This touched me deeply – I can feel how holding self turns even joy into something surface, it reminds me that while the journey starts with self, ultimately it’s about the all; the all we are all from.

  152. Beautifully written Joel, Serge Benhayon is such a mirror as you describe, not trying to change, influence or impose on people. Simply reflecting the love and divinity that we all are, with no judgement as to where we are.

  153. Agree Kristy. We are so good at hiding the many layers that make us who we are, by just concentrating on making the outer layer tell a portion of the story.

  154. This is more gorgeous every time I read it; this is a piece that reflects onto me to what extent I am responsible for my own choices and not just watching at the surface layer and present that to the world, I can feel there is much more to uncover.

  155. Thank you Joel for this parable. I too think that many of the blogs would make a beauty-full collection of stories not only for children but for us all to re-read. Story telling is a powerful medium that enriches life and help us connect with our feelings.

  156. Joel what a fantastic story. As I was reading it I thought this would make a great children’s story book. I love how we are all mirrors.

    1. So true Lindell, this is a children’s story book for sure… imagine having this sort of foundation as an understanding for life. We are all mirrors, and worth considering too is what we reflect when it isn’t the love we are… what we make of those reflections is another story entirely!

  157. Another gorgeous article. We hold mirrors up for each other every day. It is up to us to choose how deeply we look.

  158. Thank you Joel, your writing is one of those mirrors. Thank you for your deeply inspiring words, as always.

  159. Thank you Joel. A wonderful reflection of the mirror this Great Teacher Serge Benhayon is holding up for all of humanity to look into. He has certainly inspired me to have a good honest look at myself. He has completely changed my understanding of Life and Love and I continue to change, day by day, moment to moment, in ways I could not have previously imagined.

  160. This line really stood out to me Joel. “Some stayed basking in that joy for a long time, others knew that over time, without going deeper, they would just turn the joy into a new surface image; one that made them at best ‘comfortable’ and at worst ‘special’”.
This line really stood out to me Joel. It is so true. We are ever evolving there is no time for basking.

    1. This line stood our for me too Margaret. Something that is special for now will most of the time not be special at all, and just be ‘normal’ after a while. This just makes sense to life. If we do not keep deepening our love for ourselves and others, life can tend to get a bit boring, plus it is not asking yourself to be even more amazing. If we do, life can get very amazing beyond our beliefs.

      1. That is a different way of looking at life Lieke. As one that is forever evolving more joy and amazingness if we choose to see and allow it so.

      2. Yes true Joshua, and it is about learning how to do that and allow ourselves to accept more amazingness each day. Then that it is actually Normal to live that way.

  161. To look deeper than the surface necessitates being honest and truthful. Sometimes it is painful to see the truth but as you so beautifully reflect, Joel, if we keep going deeper we eventually reach the Love we all are.

    1. “we eventually reach the Love we all are” – So true Jonathan…the love we ALREADY are…

  162. This is a great tale to be understood on many levels, for children and adults alike. I love the punchline at the end, ‘After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally.’ It would be wonderful to create a book of Universal Medicine stories, true and fictional, I’d buy it.

    1. I would also buy that book, I love all of Joel’s beautiful stories, so suitable for children as well as adults. This story is so inspirational for us to see how we reflect to others how we are living.

  163. I came back to read this blog today Joel as I really love the image and wisdom it presents to us. So how deep am I willing to look that’s the question I ask myself!

  164. Thanks Joel the blog is a great reflection of choosing to ever deepen my connection to who I truly am. To appreciate the moment but understand and welcome the reflection to go deeper.

  165. Thank you Joel for these wonderful words.
We can create a surface as perfect as it can be, but what others will see, feel and be inspired by or not is how far we are prepared to shine the magic that is deep within.

  166. Beauty-full ! This is a story for everybody, maybe it can be published in a children’s book. It’s much better than the common old fairy tales.

  167. What a gorgeous article highlighting the fact that we are forever presented with a true reflection which we can choose to appreciate, embrace and use to go deeper with or we can choose to ignore, react to and pretend that it has nothing to do with us. It is all our choice. And whatever our choice that true reflection will forever keep coming in one form or another, because we are forever held in absolute love.

  168. Joel this is another truly amazing blog that you have brought forth to us. Such wisdom, clarity and relatabiilty is so appreciated. Thank you.

  169. “A few let go of the layers they had previously protected themselves with, appreciating the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them.” – I loved re-reading your blog Joel. This sentence spoke really loudly to me today.

    1. Yes, this is as powerful for me to re-read as it was to write. That ultimate choice to put love above recognition, has been very much on my radar of late.

      1. Putting love above recognition – thank you Joel for adding this to your marvelous blog.
Love will let us become mirrors, whilst the strive for recognition will keep us stressed, blocked and just a reduced version of the magnificence that we all are.

    2. That line really stood out for me to today too – so often we over-ride our feelings and our truth for fear of some kind of reaction from the world in its many guises. Something I am very much still working on lately too.

  170. Thank you for sharing this Joel. I am glad that I am surrounded by many such mirrors that offer a true reflection for me and show me what is possible.

    1. I am glad too Lee, to have these other mirrors to help me see when my own gets a bit ‘fogged up’ and gently remove another layer of the obscuring mist that clouds my own divinity.

    2. Lee I feel the same. Joel blog gave me an appreciation for the choose’s I’ve made so far that have created many amazing mirrors to reflect off.

  171. Beautiful true story told in such a poetic way. As I read your story, Joel, I can’t help seeing Serge as a mirror and all the people coming to do courses as citizens of the town who are coming to look at the mirror/Serge for different reasons with their own heart desires. Everyone chooses and gets a reflection according to the depth of this desire. And everyone has a choice what to do with their Divinity-to reject it, to embrace it and keep to themselves or to become a mirror. Is it not what is happening with the students of Universal Medicine?

    1. Yes true. Serge Benhayon was the first man I came across that was already living as a divine Son of God and he has been providing a perfect mirror for everyone. As more and more individuals are choosing to heal and let go of the layers that block us from who we truly are, and to walk again as the divine Sons of God we are – and which is the true essence of the whole of humanity – there will be more and more mirrors all over the world.

  172. You are a gifted storyteller Joel, but more than gifted, your stories open a door to profound awareness…much like the mirror that never lies.
You have touched upon the most powerful aspect of reflection, and that is it offers the depth that we are willing to see. The choice is always ours as to how deeply we see…and the mirror does nothing more than reflect. Judgement is nil.
The conclusion knocked my socks off with those who see the divinity and rest there (an impossibility of course as the nature of the divine is to never rest in comfort) and then those who chose to appreciate the divinity more than they fear the reactions of others.
    This is a great parable.

  173. Joel, there is so much here, our choices are always ours, and our bodies reflect that even when we don’t always want to see them. And even joy, as amazing as it is, if kept and held onto becomes another thing – it’s really about embracing everybody, and evolution doesn’t stop, thanks for reminding me.

  174. Beautiful and great analogy to the mirror being the truth with no judgement or opinions. It only shows what is presented. The interpretation and judgement and reaction is personal. Well told Joel, our life is our responsibility.

    1. Yes I hadn’t quite understood that fully, the reflection is just that, there is no activity in it. Perhaps that is something I am being asked to remember by the reflection of this blog and chancing on your comment!

  175. This is gold. Philosophically speaking, evolution is so simple. The outplay, not so, (so it seems).

May we all choose more ‘simple’.

  176. Joel, your writing is confirming of the infinite depths of who we are – just as the sky and stars at night reflect this back to us.

    1. Beautiful writing by Joel, Marcia, I wanted to wrap his words round, like the sky and stars at night wrap themselves round the planet. So moving and inspiring.

    2. Yes Marcia the shimmering mirrors of the night sky are a beautiful reflection of our own divinity.

  177. I love this Joel. What a beautiful parable. The reflection offered in this is divine.

  178. Accepting that the’ warts and all’ reflections that such ‘mirror moments’ give are in fact gifts, should I so choose, and are parts of enabling me to evolve is still work in progress.

  179. Joel so beautifully expressed. To stand before a mirror in all our radiant glory can be a magical moment to behold and a wonderful reflection for all equally, as we all hold this power within.

  180. Reflection is such a powerful part of our lives, able to constantly bring the potential for awareness and the deepening of our relationship with our self and with God. It is always there for us to see, in the eyes of others, in nature, in a “coincidence”. It is up to us whether we choose to see it, ignore it or re-interpret it.

  181. “The tricky story about a thing named free will.” That could be the title of your novel. The beauty of your precious gift is to me that it truly gets me to ponder about what I really want… Thank you, Joel!

  182. A beautifully written piece Joel, showing the possible choices we can make in life
and the reflection we can give others. The quality of that reflection depends
on the choices we make to live and express in full from the love we know ourselves to be

  183. Those walking reflections gotta love them.. So true yet very play full and light

  184. Awesome Joel! This line really resonated with me – “They could stay with the joy and vitality they had uncovered for themselves, or go deeper still.” – How true this is. We can stay with the joy and vitality, or continue to go deeper… each time we look at the mirror choosing to see what else is there to be felt, what other choices need to be made.

  185. WOW, again… Joel- please write more … because I love what you write, and how they feel for me. Truly beautiful!!!

  186. Profound blog Joel. I found myself reflecting on where I am at on this continuum and reminded me that there is always more waiting for me to notice and allow to unfold. Thank you.

  187. So eloquent and so precise in how we as people relate to true love when we see and feel all it has to offer. I really appreciate the way you have taken it all the way to those who have been making the choices and changes becoming like the mirror – or a reflection of love themselves. I am starting to grasp and relate to this part myself. I really appreciate your expression Joel – always very insightful and a joy to read.

  188. Beautiful to re-read Joel. We always have a choice. And making no new decision is also a choice. Serge Benhayon offers me a powerful reflection. I am reflecting to others all the time also. What is it I choose to reflect back? Responsibility is key – as my life isn’t just about me, something I have deeply understood from Universal Medicine.

  189. Coming back to this blog Joel cause I could just read your writing over and over again. I have recognised that many peoples eyes reflect what we are / cannot see for ourselves until we look deeper. These eyes are incredible and hold such a depth and are completely unwavering. Exactly like a mirror- A reflection of the soul.

    1. Emily, I love your analogy here, to the eyes being exactly like a mirror, YES – A reflection of the soul – beautyfull.

  190. This is a very powerful blog, offering a great insight for us all. “All it could do is reflect to the depth people chose.” I love this line. I know I have looked for others to change my life, but in fact the truth is it all comes down to me, and the choices I make, now that is an absolute joy. Isn’t it amazing how we are all a mirror for everyone else.

  191. It is sometimes confronting to see another living with far more integrity and grace; there are even times where this has made me feel jealous and/or less than another. This blog reminds me of the importance of having that true reflection and makes it clear that jealousy is plain crazy.

“The choice to do something about what you saw was always yours. However, without this reflection, there was no way for people to see the possibility that things were not as they seemed.”

  192. Whilst reading this poem from heaven I feel deeply embraced by a unique quality of love and stillness which holds me tenderly. With deep appreciation for your unique expression Joel.

  193. Thank you Joel, a fabulous philosophic piece of writing that explores the depths we can go to (or not) to reveal our divine selves and reflect that back to the world.

  194. “As always the mirror was impartial -the choice was theirs ” is a great reminder of the power of choice that we have when we look at any situation in life. Thanks Joel for producing another gem.

  195. A very beautiful story Joel with a powerful and inspirational message.
I really appreciated your expression and wisdom, thank you.

  196. This blog is like a poem- thank you Joel- it inspires me to go deeper in looking at me or in fact at in a mirror to become that light of reflection.

  197. I am so deeply inspired by this blog. It inspires me to do one thing I have been struggling to do for a couple of years, just be truth-full. Thank you so much for writing it. I too would one day like to be a mirror in the world that shows people who they are.

  198. Yet once again a beautiful blog with much to explore and go deeper with, Thank you Joel.

  199. Beautiful Joel, your writing is divine and a wonderful reminder to keep going deeper – the deeper we go, the more we reflect.

  200. Joel what a beautiful sharing. I love in which the way you have shown the true reflection of the mirror and how that can reflect back on society. I will look forward to re-reading this again and again. Thank you Joel.

  201. Joel what you have expressed here is an amazing revelation of the choices we all can make or choose to not make. What is most revealing for me to feel is that we are all of the same divinity and our connection to that is again a choice we choose to make or not.

  202. This is awesome Joel, I could really feel how we can choose to see ourselves a certain way and hold onto that as a form of protection and safety, or we could start to let go of those roles we hide behind. If we do choose to let go there is another round of letting go – discovering the hurts and sensitivities that allowed us to put on those roles in the first place and if we stick with it and allow those too to expose themselves we return back to the love and joy we truly are. A bit of a process but very well worth it. Thank you Joel.

  203. Wow… this story is so deeply profound and beautiful Joel. Having someone in your life who is living from their soul, the natural divine nature that we all come from, is a reflection that you just can’t escape from. It is a consistent call to reconnect to the essence within, to deal with your hurts and to establish a loving way of life. I have found this with Serge Benhayon, I am forever inspired by the way that he lives… his integrity, his understanding, his dedication, his immense love of people, his strength and his unshakeable commitment to truth. I know that all of these characteristics and qualities are who I am also… and with his reflection (and the reflection of many others as well) I am inspired to establish a way of life that brings these natural qualities that are within me out. Without this reflection of what is possible, I feel that I would be very lost, as I wouldn’t have a marker in my life of the true respect, profound care, joy, tenderness and integrity that was possible to be lived in the world. When there isn’t someone reflecting the equal divinity that we all are back to others, we lower our standards, many give up on what they feel is true, or sell out to play a role in life that isn’t them, and we are all left much, much less. Thank you Joel, and thank you Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine for reminding me of who I truly am, of the abundance that is there within us all.

    1. I second that Jonny! Joel has written a deeply inspiring story and one that I too can relate to. I also found the mirror first in Serge Benhayon, and then from there have found so many other to be the mirror for me in a multitude of ways. For this I too am immensely appreciative!

  204. Joel a beautiful reflection and confirmation that within us all equally so, lies true divinity.

  205. I loved reading this. Making real life into a fairy tale. I can so understand the depth of this story. It’s humanity to a T. We each make our choices and so our choices are what we see in the mirror. Guess the questions is what would our reaction be to what we see in this mirror.
I loved the last paragraph where when you go so deep and realise your true power and divinity that your eyes become the mirror for all others to see their own equal divine selves.

  206. Looking into the mirror always shows me where I’m at. Sometimes what I see can hurt but only for short when I allow myself to let go and keep connecting deeper I see once more the immense light and love sparkling from the eyes in the mirror. Then when meeting others who are momentarly caught in some dark clouds with this light and Love I see the sparkle in them too become alive again reflecting back to me the light and Love we all truly hold within.
How wonderfull is that – and worth every moment of working through the mist we sometimes find ourselves wondering in!

    1. So true Sandra, the mirror never lies. I can always tell how I am based on my relationship with the mirror. When I am not doing well I avoid the mirror, especially my eyes, but I have learnt that during these times it is super important to look in the mirror and ask “are you ok?” Often I make myself cry, which is awesome as it gives me the opportunity to deal with whatever it is I was trying to avoid. An equally when I am doing well it is so confirming to look in the mirror and see my beauty shine back at me, my eyes dancing with joy, telling me to go share them with the world. Who knew mirrors where such a blessing 🙂

      1. Awesome way to work with this Caroline – thanks for the tip. It is so true that I too avoid my eyes in the mirror when I am not doing too well, and yet love gazing into them when I feel awesome…opening up a conversation about self when not feeling so great is gold!

  207. Thank you Joel for sharing this beautiful story. I can feel how there are mirrors of love everywhere offering reflections for all and that each of us can be a mirror for others if we so choose.

  208. Joel I dont always like the mirror but when I am willing to really have a deeper look even when there was bits I need to address, I discover in my eyes a beauty and love that I cannt not deny.

    1. Well said Sharon. I too have had that experience, when I walk past a mirror in hardness and I see that reflected back – its like woah – the reflection is instant and uncomfortable. But I can choose to sit with that reflection and look at why I am choosing hardness, and when I ask those questions in love and with gentleness I also discover in my eyes is beauty and a wisdom that I cannot deny. Then I can choose to hold that first and reflect that, and then from there look at why I was choosing hardness. The mirror does not judge – it simply reflects. There is nowhere to hide. Amazing article Joel.

  209. Wow that’s one powerful mirror, and luckily we are surrounded by mirrors like this every day. I have two in my room and they are always reflecting the choices that I have made and the impact on my body and most importantly it reflects how amazing I am just for being me.

  210. Joel your story is Heaven sent. Literally. Stories like that enable us to feel truth so easily. The truth being that we start off seeing the outside reflected back to us and eventually we get to see the inside reflected back. We also act like a mirror to others. The question is what reflection are we offering ? Interestingly what we see reflected back in the mirror is also what we see in others. If we see God reflected back then we see God in everybody else.

  211. I was smiling from the depth of my being reading your blog Joel, in true celebration for the day where we all again become the ‘mirror that never lies’ reflecting our equal divinity, glorious, thank you!

  212. That was truly glorious and totally divine Joel. Thank You. This blog will be one that I will re-read often!

  213. Thank you Joel, I love this blog and will come back and read it again and again. Imagine the day when we all become the “Mirror that Never Lies” so that as we all look into the eyes of all others, we are constantly reminded that we are are much more than the outer image we project to the world. . . and imagine the day when ALL live the ‘more’ that we all are!

  214. Hi Joel, was an absolute joy to read your blog -truly beautiful what you have expressed and shared here. I especially love this line –
” After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally.”

  215. For me, reflection and understanding that what is reflected back to me through others, has taken away the arrogance I used as a protection from life.

  216. Really enjoyed your article Joel and your right the mirror never lies and sometimes the reflection can be pretty confronting, but always the opportunity for growth

  217. That’s so funny ..
I can imagine how confronting it would be for people at first to be out and about and then see their reflection… See what they are presenting to the world… See the lifestyle choices they make…. See absolutely everything about them.. On display. What an experience for many.

    1. Yes, an incredible experience for people to be presented with. They will be facing the truth of how they are presenting. May be confronting for some.

  218. Wise words Joel so beautifully expressed, thank you for your wisdom and gentle reminder that the choice is always ours.

  219. The metaphor of the mirror reveals so much or so little depending on what the beholder chooses to see, this piece gives me something profound to ponder on, thank you Joel

  220. Beautifully said Joel, thank you. I feel I have tended to use reflections to then feel bad about myself, accepting it’s been my choice to do that. No more, now I choose to evolve and see all the reflections around me as an opportunity to do so.

  221. It takes great courage to stand before such a mirror and ask what is truly there. I know you have done this Joel, I can feel it in your words, which is why they are able to reflect the divinity that you found, and that was there all along. Thank you for offering this reflection to us all from the Mirror That Never Lies – true beauty.

  222. How beautiful Joel and so very true. The mirror is always there, in some form or other, continually offering us a reflection, but of course it is always our choice what we do with what we see being reflected back to us. Conversely, there will come a time when we are the mirror reflecting back to others, and then it follows, that they too have a choice of how to respond to the reflection we are offering them.

  223. Thank you Joel , for a very cool piece of writing. The mirror of life only limited by how deep we want to look , and choose to want to see and feel. Nice One.

  224. I love the way you write Joel, making life and divinity so simple as it should be. And as you say, without such mirrors none will even know there is more. So not only does it serve us to keep looking deeper, in doing so we offer a mirror to those around us.

  225. So what is my choice when I look in the mirror? I have this choice in every moment. A wonderful analogy Joel that gives a clear and simple message about reflections, one that I can come back to when life seems to get complicated.

  226. What is significant for me to re-connect with in your message is that the mirror simply reflects with no pre-conceived agenda – this is key for being a mirror myself, for others.

  227. I just love this blog. I could read it again and again as it is such a wonderful teaching. It reminds me of how important it is to have true role models in our life because without them reflecting back to us what lives deep within we are lost to the outer image that we identify with. Serge Benhayon has been and is a true role model for me.

  228. Thank you Joel, this is so beautiful and so empowering how we can all choose to be a mirror that never lies and how we are all equal.

  229. You write so beautifully Joel, love your words and what you shared, how you expressed so simply. Now every time I look in the mirror I will have a whole new perspective!

  230. I loved the comment appreciating the divinity that lives with in. We were sitting around the dinner table tonight and talking about our relationship with divinity and then I read this blog. No coincidences.

  231. You’ve made me stop and feel the power of connecting to and expressing my own divinity so that others may know theirs. At times I can feel how I’ve been one of those who stood in front of the mirror afraid of how others will see my divinity. Time to let go of this one. Thank you Joel.

  232. What a beautiful piece Joel, I love the simplicity of it, it brings with it an understanding of how we can choose to look at our selves and feel that there is much more in us. Thank You.

  233. Joel, I love your writing, like a story being read to me as a child with love and clear wisdom that will help me grow…It is exactly this reflection you speak of (the divinity in all equally) that I see in Serge Benhayon and many who have made the choose to go deeper, to work on their baggage, to feel their divine sacredness and live this for all. It is this reflection that has inspired in me the same dedication to working on my stuff, let go of the façade / protection and re-connect to the divine in me and everyone.

  234. Joel, wow, what a beautiful blog. This is a ‘bed time’ story for all children, both young and old. I’m just off to look in the mirror! Thank you.

  235. Joel, this is an absolutely beautiful blog, a big reminder for me to continue to go deeper and deeper, and not stay being comfortable. Thank you for the reflection.

  236. Like the mirror, this blog is so still – just impartial standing there and reflecting back to us truth and divinity. From your reflections, I saw and felt deeper, thank you Joel.

  237. Wow Joel, beautiful blog. Very inspiring and thought provoking.

‘Some stayed basking in that joy for a long time, others knew that over time, without going deeper, they would just turn the joy into a new surface image; one that made them at best ‘comfortable’ and at worst ‘special’.’

I highlighted this part to remind me to go deeper and not to stay comfortable with where I am at. Great reflection.

    1. I agree Chanly88, I also find this part a great reminder for me to “go deeper and not to stay comfortable with where I am at”. A reminder that I need at times, it is so easy to become complacent.

  238. Hello Joel, what a great blog. I really enjoyed reading this and how you put this together. It is a beautiful story and one with a powerful ‘reflection’ if you choose to look deeper. I love what you are saying in this and the way it is written allows you to feel more and go into the possibilities of what you feel. You have a way of writing that enables the whole world to read. Thank you Joel this was a great way to start my day.

  239. Beautiful Joel ,the way back home is well sign posted, every where we look we have a choice to see a refection of where we are truly at ,thanks Joel

  240. At this point in time it seems like such a brave thing to be a mirror…for many will not enjoy what is reflected. Your post highlights that when you are a mirror you are no longer concerned about what the world thinks of you… you just remain you in truth and that is enough.

    1. I agree, it can feel a little daunting, but no, I claim it now. I want to be that mirror for others to see there is another way.

  241. Joel your simple yet profound illustration reminds me of some the fables I heard as a child – the type that seem to resonate with us all, such as the tale of the tortoise and the hare and the benefit of a ‘slow and steady’ approach to life. Your naturally philosophical story certainly reflects how what is presented by Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine works, and its effect on ourselves and others.

    1. I love the way you expressed this Victoria, “Your naturally philosophical story certainly reflects how what is presented by Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine works, and its effect on ourselves and others”

  242. Loved this Joel. So awesome. Told so lovingly and leaving the reader to feel their own responsibility with their choices.

  243. Joel sometimes I am fearful of going deeper as I am afraid that I will be confronted with another thing I have done wrong, but you are right, when we have this willingness to go beyond the frustration, or anger, or sadness, we become aware of how grand we really are, how we are all connected, all the same on the inside, all divine.

    1. I love how you’ve presented this Joel. As Geraldine has so beautifully expressed, this sure is a modern day parable inviting us all to return home to our truth.

  244. Thank you, Joel. What a beautiful way to present the ever evolving continuity we live in/as.

    1. Could it be that we have reflection so that we may see the impact of our choices? And therefore it is not just a reflection, but an opportunity to evolve or not?

  245. Wow, I loved this. It created a endless spring of love in me and a smile from ear to ear. What a beautiful way to express life. Thank you Joel.

  246. Oh, what a beautiful journey with just an impartial mirror that offers you the possibility to deepen your own relationship with yourself to eventually turn yourself into a mirror for others. The science of evolution by means of reflection in simple.

  247. When we have a willingness to look beyond the surface the depth that we can reach is eternal.

Thank you Joel for this awesome blog and sharing the divinity that we all have equally.

  248. Joel, this is so beautiful and full of divine wisdom and truth. This is what we need to be sharing as bedtime stories with our children every night.

  249. I love the way this article allows me in its reading to feel the call to go deeper into myself and that this can be a never ending process, yet at some point, I am the impartial and unconditionally loving mirror for others. Well done Joel, you have captured something precious here!

  250. There’s always something new and apposite to be taken from your blog each time I read it, Joel. Brimming with nuggets of truth. I love it.

  251. I so enjoyed re-reading your blog, Joel. I use to look in the mirror for re-assurance – as I tried to bolster my feelings of insecurity. This may have worked sometimes for a short while but the feeling of insecurity would soon return. It is so much more re-assuring when what you are seeking is a true reflection – I still sometimes see a little pain, but I now know that is not who I am, and in time if I continue to look within that pain will lessen, and as I let go of the pain it will reveal to me and the world all that I am.

    1. “I still sometimes see a little pain, but I now know that is not who I am, and in time if I continue to look within that pain will lessen, and as I let go of the pain it will reveal to me and the world all that I am”
I love this quote. So beautiful and very loving. Showing that you’ve changed the focus of identifying yourself with the pain you’ve taken on and might sometimes show on the surface to choosing to claim the true, beautiful, de-light-FULL you behind it all. Very inspiring Susan.

  252. I have grown up with simple stories – but none of them shared that within us is something, something worth connecting to and celebrating. This is amazing and very needed – I can’t wait to read this to my children.

  253. “The mirror is impartial — the choice is ours”
A beautiful parable, teaching such truth and wisdom.
One I shall be telling my grand children.
    Thank you Joel.

  254. “The mirror was impartial.” However we see what we choose to see. Perceptions colour everything, even how we want to see truth. Hence why people can say ” this is my truth”, yet it may not be the universal truth.

  255. “…The choice to do something about what you saw was always yours. However, without this reflection, there was no way for people to see the possibility that things were not as they seemed.”

I have felt things were not as they looked…but until Universal Medicine I was still very much lost in what was and was not…and as I choose more and more self honesty I continue to uncover more and more layers of truth.

With immense gratitude for the Loving mirror, I can only go forward now because the truth is SO beautiful and it is the way home to love.

  256. A mirror reflects what we are ready to see. If we take more responsibility and hold ourselves with love, we will see the whole picture for what it is. But if we are not ready, if we want to hide from who we really are, then we will not like the reflection or be able to see our true selves.

  257. I could read this again and again and again. You have a real gift with your writing, so much is here. For example “If you stood there as an orphan, a leper, a self-made millionaire, a sports star – that is what was reflected back. But if you stood with a willingness to look beyond the surface, the mirror reflected much, much more.” Is simply expressing we are so much more than the roles, ideals and beliefs we live. All we need to do is be willing to look deeper and re-connect with who we truly are.

And I love this part “appreciating the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them. After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally.” Pure Gold.

    1. So true Vicky, very simply and clearly written, thank you, ‘we are so much more than the roles, ideals and beliefs we live. All we need to do is be willing to look deeper’

  258. This really brings home the responsibility to lovingly connect to our truth and express it in full, because a mirror which selectively reflects parts and not the whole for us is not much of a mirror at all.

  259. What a powerful blog and it reminds me of the power of reflection which is something we are experiencing every day with each other without perhaps even realising it. It needs one person (and it only takes one) to reflect that there might be another way to truly Iive life, to break the illusion that life is only about outer appearances and a comfortable existence.

  260. Thank you Joel for a timeless reflection that we are masters of our choices because we have free will and this free will allows us to go deeper and deeper. It is a very healing blog.

  261. Thank you, awesome blog. I love how you write of seeing divinity equally in all and choosing this over the fear of what the world may think or do about this choice. The mirror, a beautiful metaphor.

  262. Joel, as I read this gorgeous blog, I could really feel the Divinity it came from. It is a true blessing that you provided and so inspirational for us all to see how we are always being offered to go deeper and feel even more of our own true selves and Love that resides inside, but so often get comfortable with what seems like a “better” life. I know I have done this many times, but am really touched by your words and ready to look even deeper into that “Mirror of Love and Free Will”.

  263. Hi Joel, I sent this blog to my granddaughter yesterday and will be reading it to my grandson it is so full of wisdom. thank you.

  264. Joel, your blog reads like a very old fable, reflecting just how timeless the message truly is. It takes all the noise of any era out of the equation and just presents an undeniable truth about our process of evolution and the kinds of choice points we meet along the way. This will without doubt continue to be read with understanding and meaning hundreds of years down the line.

    1. That is just how I felt reading it, Cathy, it is ageless — an ageless wisdom that we all know deep inside and long to be re-connected with. When it is shown to us it is undeniable and makes so much sense. To live it is our choice.

  265. This piece of writing does what the mirror does, reflect to the depth one is willing to go. And you go deeper when you say that if they stayed for long in that joy: “they would just turn the joy into a new surface image; one that made them at best ‘comfortable’ and at worst ‘special’”. Reminding everyone to not stay and cruise, and plateau in whatever level of joy we have found in ourselves. Great reflection Joel.

  266. This is so beautiful every time I read it I get touched by it more. Thank you Joel also for describing and seeing all I know and am seeing reflected more and more each day. A really great true analogy of the real beauty within us all.

  267. I had a new experience today Joel, suddenly an image flashed into my mind of myself looking in a mirror. At first I saw only myself, but then I was aware that behind the mirror were fellow students, and I began to see them in the reflection, and then more people appeared, friends and relations, then many more, and I saw them all in the mirror, and they were standing behind me. So I saw myself reflected there with all humanity and linked with them all. This leads me to feel how everyone I meet is a reflection for me, and I am not separated or alone, for we all dance together in an ever moving and expanding universe, continually refleting each other.

  268. A truly beautiful expression Joel – I love the simplicity but depth of what you write thank you for this reflection.

  269. Thank you Joel what you have shared here brought a tear to my. The analogy of the mirror sums up my experience with Serge Benhayon and now with the way I am in my life.
Let our reflections be our inspiration.

  270. I just had to come back for another read as I love how the message just unfolds. So true what you say with ” The choice to do something about what you saw was always yours.”

  271. I love Joel how you beautifully present, that it is possible for us to take at face value what we are seeing in the mirror, or we can choose to pause and feel what is being reflected to us on a deeper level. An important point for me to reflect on.

  272. Wow Thank you Joel, “After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally” So very spot on, as we deepen our connection and bring out who we truly are we realise that deep inside we are all divine and that we are all actually one.

  273. ” As always the mirror was impartial – the choice was theirs.” Thank you Joel for this divine reflection.

  274. The possibility offered by true reflection to see that things are not as they seem and that we can choose to change them and continue to allow an evolution to something deeper, the divinity in us all, and then we too become the reflection for another. This is so powerful and exquisite, I feel an amazing lightness in me as I read this, knowing we are all mirrors to each other and best of all we can choose to let each other see it all.

    1. Yeah totally agree with you Susie, the analogies here just won’t ever get old. As long as people are desperately searching for a way to avoid their reflections this mirror will not start to ease up. Powerful stuff.

    2. I so agree, Susie, it is a joy to read it a second time. This time I really felt how clear and precise are the messages that we are given in life once we allow the scales to fall from our eyes. The mirror of life is always available to us whether we choose to look into it or not. However, when we do the gifts are pure gold and as Joel says ‘They stood before the mirror and saw that what lived behind the joy was a sense of their own divinity.’

    3. Agreed Suzie, you can read this several times and enjoy more from each metaphor each time

    4. Definitely, it just keeps getting better. Different sentences spring out and you can go deeper with each read.

      1. I totally agree Susie, with each read, the reflection of the bigger picture, keeps getting bigger.

    1. exactly and agree – a collection of fables, what a great idea. Joel your words make it/the truth so accessible, and for us to go deeper and see more if we so choose it. Love that it was read to the school kids too Matilda.

  275. Thank you all for your comments and yes the blog is a blessing, including the writing process.

    The one thing I wanted to offer, is the possibility that two things happen when we call this writing a GIFT;

    (1) It implies that the message is special because of the writer. The reality is that what makes it special is the place that this writing comes from (i.e. from heaven)…which is in all of us equally.

    (2) The word gift implies something special or something given to me. The reality is we all make lots of choices to either express from our essence or not. Expression is not a gift, it’s a choice…we are always doing it.

Is it possible that by calling it a gift we dismiss the reality that it lives within us ALL.

    1. Joel, this is such a beautiful and amazing piece of writing, everything is here! Thank you for putting it together and expanding further on the subject of the gift. I am permanently dealing with the issue of being special and gifted, it is something I use to make sense of myself and feel my worth! I love the reflection your are sharing here!

    2. This is a very important calling out Joel as yes by calling this is gift we are dismissing the real facts that this indeed does naturally live within us all.

    3. Joel it is powerful to read your comment and important to be nominated and called out. What is also incredible is not only are you saying what is going on but the humbleness in not claiming what you expressed is yours to own. We are all as powerful, and claiming our expression from our true essence is the new ‘normal’ and not owning it is allowing this to be.

    4. As you say, the word ‘gift’ implies something being ‘given’ to us rather us accepting that it is already there within us. When the choice is made to see it as something from outside of us it feels like we are disempowering ourselves from fully knowing and therefore expressing the immense beauty we all have inside us. Even just one word when spoken from that essence is a blessing and can be truly felt. I love your expression Joel, thank you.

  276. I love the way you portray the Way of truth on earth as the mirror, there for all to see and take note, or to move on past. The choice is always ours. Without the teachings of Universal Medicine there would have been no Way to reflect truth and therefore no way of knowing things are not as they seem – until we choose to look more deeply.

    1. And so Rosanna, we would have been left in the dark thinking that we had no other option then what was in front of us. Universal Medicine has transformed my entire view on life, it has allowed me to see that life is something to enjoy and something that needs not be hard or intense and the more I work on my relationship with myself the more I am then able to truly enjoy every single part of what life has to offer, this is a complete turn around to where I was and how I was living.

  277. This is a truly beautiful piece of sharing and reflects all i know and feel also with the responsibility and love felt for us all. Divinity and the story go hand in hand and take you there lovingly to the truth for us all to claim ourselves for who we truly are ,divine beings as one together.

    1. How delightful Matilda. Thank you for this share.
It shows how children, like us adults, welcome such words of truth that honour all of us to the core.

    2. Inspiring Matilda, thank you for sharing. I am sure the children could feel the truth in what was written which may stay with them for life as so many stories we read to children make them try to be something instead of being appreciated for the love they simply are and amazing gift that is for us all.

    3. Definitely one worth reading out loud. It sounds like a fairytale, and all that is expressed we can relate to, particularly as children when we’ve had less time to put up shields, masks, and armour that stops others seeing who we truly are.

    4. That is remarkable Matilda and something that is much need in schools today, I remember not wanting to be present in school to the point I do not remember doing my work. I remember feeling that nothing in my school was interesting me and I felt that all the teachers just wanted me to do what they ask but they never asked me how I was and how I was coping with the pressure I had felt. Having these types of readings in schools is exactly was we need to assist children in their own development so that they are not left thinking that life is about what you achieve.

    5. Awesome Matilda, society imposes on our children very early on who and how they should be, by reading them this you have offered another way, a true way, a way that allows them to see themselves and others for who they truly are.

    6. How wonderful that there are now some stories like this to read with children which are not full of hope, but containing wisdom and truth.

    7. Awesome Maltilda, how beautiful it must have been for the children to hear such truthful words, with their stillness it just shows their connection to truth. What an amazing day it must have been for them, and what they would have taken back to their families.

    8. How amazing to have this blog read to you by your teacher! Fantastic! As Golnaz says it does show just how much we recognise and welcome words of truth when we hear them and that the wisdom they convey can go a very long way.

    9. Wow, what a wonderful inspiration for the children in your class. And of course they feel what is in the beautiful words of the divine Joel and being read by the divine Matilda.

  278. I am beginning to understand your lines, ‘Some stayed basking in that joy for a long time, others knew that over time, without going deeper, they would just turn the joy into a new surface image; one that made them at best ‘comfortable’ and at worst ‘special’. That divinity doesn’t stop expanding and to not expand with it is to accept what is comfortable. Such an inspiring blog to be one of the many mirrors that never lie.

    1. I have been pondering these very same lines Karin and love the reflection offered. Divinity forever expanding in its own likeness – the grandest and most glorious mirror for us to choose to be part of its reflection, rather than holding back – contracted and comfortable in the lie of the illusion.

    2. So true, Karin, as soon as we think we’ve “got it” or “got there”, or start to feel complacent and comfortable, then we have lost it, and as you say it becomes another surface image. Keep expanding with Divinity and all unfolds before us, comes to halt, and everything “falls apart”.

  279. I love this article Joel. So beautifully reflects the constancy of the love and truth that is available to us all, always. We may create our own issues and our own dramas with what we see, but the love and truth will stay steady for us regardless. No judgement no expectation, no pressure, just a beautiful loving reflection for us so that we have the opportunity to see who we truly are when we choose to see and honour it.

    1. Your comment is beautiful, Golnaz – to feel ‘the constancy of the love and truth that is available to us all, always’ – to be able to appreciate this and to build it into our lives. Your words are a beautiful reflection to offer mankind.

    1. You Nailed it Matilda, this absolutely is a forever gift to humanity. I love this blog Joel.

    2. Beautifully said, Matilda. I love returning to this and other blogs written by Joel as they offer up timeless and universal truths that confirm the power of truth in simplicity.

      1. I do as well Janet. I love Joel’s simplicity and the way he writes, making universal truths easily accessible and extremely practical. Thank you Joel for sharing once again.

  280. Joel that is so profound….at first I wished I had a mirror like that in the town square but of course the mirror is everywhere, and anywhere I take the time to see the the real truth, even if its not pretty, I can be honest and loving about it, and make choices accordingly.
    Thank you Joel.

  281. This is very powerful Joel and what I feel here is that we had be lied to left right and centre on what we should and should not look like based on our own insecurities or ideals and beliefs on what this world is about. The very fact that we have mirrors in the first place is crazy really as the idea of a mirror gives us an outside view of what is really going on, on the inside which has allowed our focus to become about covering over how we have been living rather then deal with how we are living and connecting with the simplicity of that.

Then we have the second element which is based on comparing how we have been living with another again by using mirrors and images, all of which does not support us in actually connecting with our essences and living life from there only.

How far will this world go before it stops and truly considers that everything we are looking for is within us and not from what we see in a mirror.

  282. This is truly beautiful Joel, it filled me with joy reading it. I agree with Lorraine, you are a master storyteller with a genius for analogies that open the heart. I am going to be rereading this one many times.

  283. Thank you Joel. The mirror is a powerful but impartial reflection always inviting us to look beneath the surface, there is always another layer.

  284. Thank you Joel – so-o beauty-full was the essence of your blog – I really enjoyed reading it.

  285. Joel this blog is deep – its beautiful and contains such wisdom. I loved reading it and will use the analogy to ask myself how much am I willing to see and reflect!

  286. I love the way you use the mirror as an analogy for different levels of reflection, depending on how deep we want to look.Your blog has helped me to understand the power of reflection and how much we can learn about ourselves, from others reflecting back to us. It also teaches us to become much more responsible for our choices in life. Thank you Joel.

  287. I found this blog incredibly powerful, using the analogy so beautifully to break down the layers and expose the divinity within. I particularly like the final piece, that it is not just the discovery of that within us all, but being willing to then share that with everyone else that creates more mirrors to inspire others.

  288. Joel, It’s great to have your spare description of something we are all experiencing, coming up against, working with;…you show by parable that the universe is constantly offering us honesty and it is our own free will to receive it or resist it. Beautiful.

  289. Beautiful blog Joel. I love your style of writing, how you convey such a profound truth into a simple, fun to read analogy. Very joyful.

    1. So do I Tim, it’s very powerful yet simple and super enjoyable to read. We most certainly need more mirrors like these in the world.

    1. Very true Fiona, what a beautiful story that is to be told and how confirming would it be for a child to grow up knowing that they have a choice as to how they present themselves to the world from an early age. Any story that truly supports a child to know in full their own wisdom and love is one worth publishing the world over, to support them to blossom into healthy and aware adults who will use their inner wisdom to truly address the ills of this world.

    2. So true Fiona. If children were educated and taught to feel and look into themselves from a young age, to deeply build a relationship with themselves we would be living in a very different world than we are today.

  290. Such a beautifully written blog Joel, thank you. Thank you Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine for your true reflection. It is my choice for the reflection I see and the reflection I offer others.

  291. I just love the brilliant analogy of the mirror you use here Joel. This is such a beautifully simple narrative which is a joy to read – thank you

  292. Thanks Joel for this truthful fairytale style blog. I love your style of writing and love even more what you offer us: each of us get the choice to look with honesty in the mirror and see who we truly are. And like you wrote: ‘After all, they could not see this within themselves without seeing how this divinity lived in all equally.’ When we see divinity in ourselves we see it in every one and we reflect this truth to every human being.

  293. “As always the mirror was impartial – the choice was theirs.”
This is a great line. The mirror is always impartial as by reflection it can only ever offer us the truth. It is our choice whether we accept that or try to reinterpret it.

  294. I love the way you describe this outer image or facade to the world – it’s so true and until I felt it I didn’t realise that’s what I was doing. It makes sense, because if we are not being our true selves then a ‘false way’ is presented instead – a false image of ourselves. We can either fool ourselves that this is us or as you say, look deeper..

  295. This is such a joy to read, you are a true wordsmith Joel. I love the analogy of the mirror of Love and Free Will, brilliant, thank you.

  296. Lovely blog Joel L. I really like how you reference the Mirror as impartial…to me the fear of what might happen if I start to reflect others choices and have to be there while they acknowledge their hurts and sadness. This is such a selfish thing for me to do right, but I do it because I can’t imagine what would happen if I didn’t “play nice”. Big things I am seeing when I stare into the mirror. The truth is the Mirror and I are getting along famously at the moment, it has shown me these depths but the thing is when I come back to have another peek another layer has slipped away. Piece by Piece the divinity is shining through, and you know what, no one has hated me for it yet.

    1. Beautifully said Phil, and how could they? It is easy to fear the unknown, we have lived such a long time without being truly honest and responsible, that sometimes you can imagine others see you as bad cop, but in reality when you express from the truth and love that you most naturally are, others can feel that for themselves and appreciate that you are not imposing, but impartial like the mirror.

  297. Wow. I Love this, such a joy and pleasure to read. A beautiful analogy that illustrates the ever deepening potential and connection to our divinity once we start truly committing and taking responsibility for our lives. Your writing is pure magic Joel. I would love if they were published. I would certainly be buying a collection of your stories.

    1. I agree Anne-Marie, Joel’s writing is pure magic. I feel the words of God expressed through his playful yet powerful stories and the healing they offer. A book of parables by Joel Levin would be awesome!

  298. I love the way you make the truth so clear for everyone in the way you present it through analogy, Joel. So beautifully expressed, thank you. I also love your development of the “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall” suggestion Lorraine.

  299. Really clever and moving blog Joel, absolutely love it! This line just goes to show how we all have a responsibility to be that mirror for everyone otherwise how will anyone around us learn to know they have a choice to feel their love? “However, without this reflection, there was no way for people to see the possibility that things were not as they seemed.”

  300. Wow, I love that story, Joel! What came to me is that I often find myself adjusting to how other people are, how I think they expect me to be, and how I have usually been, – instead of reflecting who I truly am, which would bring out their reflection too. Thanks for the reminder.

  301. Your blog touched a place deep within, Joel. It was profound and beautiful and the story was told with such delicacy and love. It is an amazing mirror for the world to see their reflection and if they choose to reflect on what they see. I feel I have looked in the mirror with expectations but now I will change as I will look deeper within and see the truth of what the mirror is telling me. Sometimes I may choose to look away until I am ready to see the reflection, the truth will always be there if I choose to see it.

    1. Gorgeous to re-read your blog this morning, Joel and yes it touched a deep place in myself also, Susan. I used to look in the mirror to judge, very often, but this is changing as I change the relationship with myself, especially when I look deeper, beyond the superficial outward appearance. This then also becomes true when I see the reflection from others.

  302. “It was the mirror of Love and Free Will, a mirror that never lied and that allowed people to be seen by others exactly how they themselves chose to be seen.”
I had to reread this a few times, to let it sink in. It’s so true. We are taught and groomed to dress ourselves up, physically and mentally, sometimes subconsciously, in a way to present ourselves to the outside world. In a way that we want to be seen. However this is often far from the reality. In doing so we often hide what is of true value to the world, us!

    1. It does warrant reading it a few times to really let the full depth of the analogy sink in – its a wonderfully poised story that holds nothing back and unwraps the different layers we hide under elegantly – not pausing at the discovery of divinity but encouraging you and me to keep developing our awareness.

  303. This is just gorgeous Joel, I hope it becomes one of those stories that everyone knows, like fairytales, with a true teaching to inspire us to look deeper and take responsibility for what we present in the mirror to ourselves and every one we meet.

  304. Joel, I love your analogies. Your expression is so wise and love-filled.
I deeply appreciate that I came across such a mirror a few years ago. Since then I am more aware of my choices and I continually discard what is not really me. And now I am becoming a mirror for other people, too. Lovely.

  305. I am currently on a healing course in the UK and am seeing the reflection from others – their true beauty and divinity. I therefore also have this within myself, as we all do, when we accept it and confirm it within ourselves.

  306. Joel when I read the first line I knew this was your blog, you have such an amazing way of writing , like the mirror your words reflect much. What you have written is life itself and the choices we have at each and every moment. When I first came to Universal Medicine and looked into the mirror I saw what I wanted to see an outer image that I presented to the world. Now the more the layers of protection and hurts have been lifted I am able to see so much more than I first allowed. I can relate to all the reflections you offer but this one stood out for me, “Some stayed basking in that joy for a long time, others knew that over time, without going deeper, they would just turn the joy into a new surface image; one that made them at best ‘comfortable’ and at worst ‘special’.” I have at times got to this place and not chosen to go deeper and it is so true it becomes another surface image as I get comfortable and choose not to go deeper.

    1. I had the same response Alison. As soon as I read “One morning a mirror appeared in the town square of a small village”, I thought “Yay! It’s another parable by Joel.” My dictionary offers this definition of a parable: “a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, as told by Jesus in the Gospels.” Of course, we would reword it to say a soulful lesson…..for that is what Joel’s writing brings the reader, a soulful lesson.

      1. Gayle, these ‘parables’ you speak of, written by Joel – would be great to read to children. For example there’s the lesson above, or there’s stories about how if you’re beautiful a Prince will come and sweep you off your feet and rescue you from all of your issues. I quite prefer the former… Joel’s stories are real, simple and power-full.

      2. Very true Gayle, Joel always delivers a very soulful parable, one that has the power to reach everyone. They are very healing and full of grace, a true joy to read and great to ponder on.

      3. Spot on Cheryl. There are many children’s stories that are far from from expansive. Joel’s parables offer space for the reader / listener to feel, develop their understanding and expand – and they are fun and simple so children can appreciate them too. They are a true blessing. Thank you Joel.

    2. Absolutely Alison it is discarding the ‘surface look’ and going so much deeper to meet who we truly are; sometimes it can be confronting and uncomfortable but I am finding if I am honest and willing to go there without judgement what is revealed and what I can let go of that is not me is so very worth it.

  307. Love these words Joel and the way you write, yes agree we only see what we want to see, and that when we choose to see, we see more of not just our divine selves, but equally this quality present in the world and also in other people. We are all each other’s mirrors in the world and life, and as you say this seeing is infinite, just as Love and Divinity is.

    1. This is so true Zofia, ‘we only see what we want to see’, I’m realising that there are many things that I do not want to see and so I block them out, a simple example is if there is mouldy food in my fridge and I do not want to deal with it I pretend it is not there, I have realised that I can do this in many areas of my life.

    2. So true Zofia, we only see what we want to see, and that we choose to see, otherwise it can be staring us in the face and we will miss it. How crazy is this? So no wonder life is full of reflections, giving us opportunity to see.

  308. Stunning blog Joel – I love the mirror reference. I know I have much to learn about not identifying with the roles of being a student, sister, daughter etc. because actually I am a divine son of god that has the ability to express truth THROUGH these roles, and from that knowing there is much more of the true me to see in the mirror reflection.

    1. Brilliantly expressed Susie, we are not our roles, but we can express who we are through our roles.

    2. Love what you say Ariana and your commitment to going for it! Yes reflections tell us so much so why ignore? I can learn so much and even more when I let go of any judgments of what I may or may not see, and so, I give myself permission to to see more and understand myself and others with greater depth and compassion.

    3. Beautifully said Ariana, “explorers of ourselves.” Yes I too am familiar with avoiding the mirror largely because I could not bear having my sadness reflected back to me. However, I and you and many others have found the courage to stop and look because we have been supported with true and infinite love, that has enabled us to see beyond the blemishes and to know that the glory that can be seen in the mirror if one is patient and honest enough, belongs to us all. What a grace-full and glorious journey to embark on!

  309. How lovely it was to read something that is honest, there for all to read, and provides its own deep reflection to the reader.
A beautifully relevant story for us all. I love the play on the common fairytale here – giving a story like this true meaning.
What a blessing it is to have a mirror in our lives that shows truth no matter what.

  310. Very beautiful and very wise Joel, I love it. The impartiality of the mirror is something I have struggled with for a long time, I look for judgement at every corner and there is none. But the flip side of this is that it has supported me to look deeper, and begin to see and feel my own divinity. What a true blessing the mirror is and thank you for your beautiful fable.

    1. Very true, Rowena… the quality in which we look into the mirror affects what we see reflected back! So if what we look at is expected to be a certain way, and it isn’t – that’s somehow the mirror’s fault. What a great message to this story.

  311. Really enjoyed reading this Joel, I could picture the village and this mirror standing tall in the centre of it – great analogy for how we can see ourselves and make certain choices of what it is we want to see or not…

  312. Thank you Joel, your expression is delightful, so easily I could relate to your mirror that never lies. The mere fact that you have expressed this so easily says so much about you. How wonderful to have such a clear refection. I am still looking in the mirror to see the beauty and the not so beautiful within.

  313. Great analogies, reflections can show us so much if we choose, and I love that idea of the mirror showing us what is truly there and how what we live can be seen.

    1. I do as well Monicag2 – ‘the idea of the idea showing us what is truly there and how what we live can be seen’. I also know that the way I am feeling affects how I feel when I look at myself in the mirror – so deep down all mirrors show us what is truly there if we are open to see the depth of the love that we are.

  314. I love this parable Joel, you so beautifully illustrate how it is always our own choice as to how deep we go in exploring our way back to reflect the divine essence we are all from.

  315. A really true and beautiful description of the choice we have to look at what is really going on, or to avoid the mirror and hope it goes away. I love what you present about how we can see that mirror in the reflection of others and how they live. I have found this to be so true.

  316. Expressed beautifully Joel, I love the way the mirror stays impartial throughout, not moving from its place to coerce or change the choices people make. It just reflects what it sees. Very true.

  317. A Beautiful blog Joel, I love how you share the mirror and the opportunity for all to go deeper (or not) by their own choices. Very Inspiring in its simplicity. Thank you!

  318. Thank you Joel, this is a beautiful parable presented with the simplicity and clarity that that befits a great piece of writing that is accessible to all.

  319. Wow, Joel! I so love the way you write. A truly prophetic tale that captures the truth of how we each choose to evolve with steady integrity or with varoious levels of delay. Succinct, economical, truthful… awesome.

  320. What an amazing parable. I can certainly say I have lived many of these steps, particularly choosing to stay comfortable in a new found joy. By not sharing this with others a stagnated resentment built up in me. However choosing to go deeper brings more joy into my days and I am so open to going deeper still, to get to know more of the wonders I sense are within me and to be able to share this with everyone, joyfully so. Life has become so much more alive and enriched by choosing to go deeper.

  321. Joel this is beautifully expressed.. I love how you have shared this as a story and it gives a wonderful reflection of how life is. The bit that jumped out was the comfort that I can go into when I have made some choices and feel better for them, this is when I coast along feeling that I have done my bit in making me feel better. I am the master of my own evolution and I know that I am here to expand and grow. Taking it deeper and constantly looking in the mirror is the only way I want to reflect to myself and others.

  322. This is amazing! Two bits particularly resonated with me – Some “blamed the mirror for what they saw” – this happens all the time – we blame the thing/ person that is reflecting our choices back to us (& get resentful, rather than taking responisibility, or indeed choose to get inspired by the reflection); and also an image that made people feel “at worst ‘special'” – telling people they’re special or being in the illusion of feeling special is so detrimental, as it’s the complete opposite of brotherhood (& I’ve definitely been there!).
This is such an amazing story/ account of reflection & truth – can you make this into a children’s book? It would be incredible! (For adults too 😉 )

  323. Stunning Joel, I can see this becoming a tale told throughout time, past down to our children to remind them of the divinity in all of us, and the importance to reflect that to everyone.

  324. Such a beautiful story, like all your other ones before. There is a lot in this to ponder on, the first one being my relationship with my reflections in the mirrors of truth around me. Thank you.

  325. ‘in that moment they became a Mirror that Never Lies: others who looked into their eyes now had the chance to see that they too are much more than the outer image they project to the world.’Brilliant blog Joel, thank you, there is much to ponder on here.

  326. I always love reading your blogs, Joel. They’re light and often humorous, but with deeply powerful messages for me to ponder on…

  327. Joel, thank you for this amazing blog. It reminds me that I am a reflection in every moment. We are so much more than the outer image that we project to the world. With every meeting and with every moment looking somebody in his or her eyes, it is a great reminder to know: you are so much more than this, we both are and we are all equal. There is no room for judgments, because every judgement just comes back to us.

  328. Another beautiful blog Joel, thank you. How beautiful it is that by letting go our own layers we all have an opportunity to inspire others to see they too are much more than the outer image they project to the world.

  329. Wow Joel the amazing power of reflection so beautifully expressed. Thank you for the reminder that we can always go deeper with it.

  330. A blog for all ages. I can imagine children enjoying this as much as I did, which was hugely. The blog is a mirror in itself, it offers us much to ponder, and as per the message of the blog, how much we choose to do so, and how deep we wish to take what it offers is our choice.

  331. Dear Joel, this is a beautiful way to describe what we can offer to one another – an absolute reflection of where we come from and what we still hold onto that is not of our true divine nature.

  332. Another gorgeous blog Joel. I love the story you have created and the simplicity of this analogy relating to the reflection and choice we have to go deeper within ourselves – beautiful and very healing to read.

  333. Thank you for sharing Joel and reminding me, like the mirror, that I can always go deeper with myself, and not settle for where I have got to however better it is compared to where I was before. And that before was before I met Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine who have been my mirror, along with many other students of the Way of the Livingness over the past 11 years.

    1. I agree Meg, I wish my grandchildren (as well as me and my sons) had it when they were young, what an insight it would have been to all of us as we were growing up.

  334. From the first line I knew this is a story that comes through you Joel expressing in your unique way the wisdom you’re connected to and understandings of life, how we live it and how it can be by our choices. Very deeply beautifull and inspiring. Thank you for having stopped before that mirror, willig to go deeper and deeper so that now you’re also one for all of us to reflect the divinity we come from and truely are.

  335. Joel I simply love the way you write with analogy it is so playful and yet so powerful. I love how the mirror is so steadfast in its truth with no attachment or investment in whether people look or not, if they do what happens next. It is almost irrelevant the only thing the mirror is there to do is be the mirror and be all of its self in that, so should someone glance their way all is there to be seen. Very simple.

  336. This is so beautiful Joel – thankyou. “As always the mirror was impartial – the choice was theirs”. And “In that moment they became a Mirror that Never Lies: others who looked into their eyes now had the chance to see that they too are much more than the outer image they project to the world.”.

  337. Joel, anougher amazing piece of writing from you making the complex lives we live so simple, when we find what we tried to forget but was hidden inside all the time and a chance to see that we are all much more than the outer image we project to the world.

  338. I loved reading this Joel. I could imagine people standing around in a medieval village looking at this mirror of Love and Free Will. It is a great parable for how people are living, the choices we make, the reflections we see and how we choose to react or respond to them. Love your work!

  339. Another top blog Joel Levin.
What a great way of sharing what we all need to look at – ourself in the mirror. You are right it never lies and I know what I see is how I feel. The layers are lifting and the depth of who I truly am is reflected in my eyes and that for me is something I value and appreciate. I know God when I look in the mirror and through that reflection I know whom I am.

  340. Joel this is another lovely blog. I am very appreciative of all the wonderful people I have met and been inspired by through Universal Medicine. I have been able to see that I am so much more than my job title or material possessions, and as your blog so beautifully illustrates, there is always a deeper layer to uncover.

  341. Joel I really enjoyed reading this – thank you. It is a bed time story that for once is true with real meaning.

  342. I love your parables Joel and this one is no exception. The power of inspiration is something that we often take for granted. We are all constantly reflecting to each other to be more or less than who we are. This happens every day with every person we have contact with but perhaps we don’t fully realise that this is going on and how connected we all really are to each other. I know I had forgotten this a bit so thanks for the beautiful reminder to go deeper, to appreciate the inspiration from others (including God) and to take responsibility for the reflection I put out into the world for others to see and feel.

  343. In this blog I appreciate how the individual experience is made universal. A mirror, a reflection of our lives and how we live, very beautiful metaphor. And so as I read I can feel the potential connection to love that is available for all and so the bigger picture of equality and connection expands. This blog is a fantastic reminder of the universal experience of having the choice to take responsibility and commit to life and love or not. Thank you for sharing.

  344. Wonderful, Joel. A playful and simple piece of writing with much to consider. I like how when reading this I can feel the reflection is forever evolving and it is not about reaching perfection in what wants to be seen but that the mirror is forever inviting to go deeper each time as there is always more to be seen, felt and appreciated. Naturally this reflection when taken out to others is an offering for them to choose the same. Thank you Joel, I love how you write.

  345. Joel, I am deeply touched by your beautiful article. There is so much truth in it in how we live concerning the reflections we get. Thank you.

  346. I am absolutely stunned Joel! literally blown away, this feels like a very old and wise parable by Jesus, Krishna or Siddhartha Gautama or someone of that nature. It sums the whole why we are here thing in the most beautiful way.

  347. Joel, I could very much relate to the many layers of discomfort that are felt before starting to feel the immenseness and divinity underneath. Reflections are so powerful and through deepening our honesty, every person and every situation can become a mirror. Once we find the truth within us, we can celebrate it by sharing it with the world. Thank you.

  348. A beautiful analogy, Joel! I love your blog, definitely one that I could read again & again – there is so much to reflect on.

  349. “appreciating the divinity that lived within them more than they feared how the world might see them”
Thanks Joel, a timely and succinct reminder that the self-image or chimera we fearfully and desperately hold onto is far far less than a pale imitation of who and what we really are. We choose the karaoke of the life vicariously lived rather than taking our part in the cosmic symphony, fully expressing the All that we are.
The time for delay is past. Let’s roll!!

    1. Great comment Andy. We tend to choose to vicariously live the karaoke of life instead of taking part in the Cosmic Symphony. Holding on to the self images stops us from expressing the magnificence of who we truly are, “a pale imitation” sums it up well.

  350. What is written here in this blog is deeply beautiful. It brings to life the process of reflection we all face as we return to our true gloriousness. The theme of the mirror being placed in a community for the purpose of reflecting to each person who looks into what they are willing to see, and the different ways to use the reflection that greets them in this mirror, would make a beautiful book for young and old. Putting illustrations to this blog would bring a whole other level to it. The way this blog was delivered really touched me and I will be sharing it with my two gorgeous girls for years to come.

    1. Great idea Robyn. The children’s rhyme ‘Mirror Mirror on the wall’ could be expanded to show them a whole new way of being and level of responsibility with the choices they can make and what they choose to see. Your way storytelling Joel, is a true gift. I loved your article.

      1. What a great idea Lorraine, The children’s rhyme ‘Mirror Mirror on the wall’ could be expanded to show them a whole new way of being and level of responsibility with the choices they can make and what they choose to see.’ This blog really has a gift within it.

      2. awesome idea, all of Joel’s writings are so full of the beauty of living with love and divinity so playfully shared a children’s book series would be something to read.

      3. Absolutely, awesome idea and children could probably relate to this version far more than the other. In fact they might feel ‘Thank God, other people are feeling the same as what I see and feel’.

      4. I agree Lorraine, Joel has a great way of expressing that supported me to go deeper into this subject. A great testament to how he lives his life.

    2. I too loved this blog about reflection and echo robynjones11’s comment about illustrations, which would enable it to reach a wider section of humanity. I shall certainly be sharing it with my grand-children. Thank you Joel for a beautiful piece of writing. It is deeply felt.

    3. Lovely Robyn. I agree that the beautiful simplicity of this story and what it presents would inspire children. The wisdom and truth it brings would touch them deeply as the story makes complete sense. There is not enough of this kind of literature, and it would be amazing to get this illustrated and out there. A precious gift to any child or adult.

  351. What an exquisite way of telling it like it is, Joel. We all have free choice and that is what decides where we are with ourselves and others in our life. The Mirror of Life never lies. It is us whose responsibility it is to wake up and start to develop our own awareness of whether we are living a lie – wilfully lying to ourselves about how we are living each day. By choosing to let go of these old ways of being, the quality of life we enjoy changes forever, especially as we become aware of and develop an appreciation of the divinity that is equally in us all.

  352. Wow Joel, what an amazing story you have written. How playfully you have expressed it.

How important it is for us to all to be willing to look at ourselves very deeply and begin to work on all the hurts that are exposed that stop us being that beauty-full reflection that we can be to others – that is the Mirror that Never Lies.

    1. Love it Rod – and great blog Joel – I love the analogy of a mirror to show the different levels of seeing how we’re living, be it looking at the physical and being ‘happy’ with what we see, all the way through to feeling the joy and knowing that we can reflect to other people as well. Awesome

  353. Joel, what a lovely blog to read this morning. So beautifully represented. I love the line, ‘they stood very still, not wanting to walk away from the absolute sacredness they had just felt’. Like some of the characters in your story, I too avoided the mirror in the town square of the village. No longer though, the sacredness once I felt it, is just too hard to walk away from. Thank you Joel for reminding me and thank you Universal Medicine.
