Sea Shells and the Winds of Change

New Year visitors to the coast were noticeably absent from the streets – possibly melting in a corner somewhere, or indoors making use of the air conditioning systems. The red and yellow surf life-saving club flags were indicating no lifeguards on duty. The beaches were closed. The days before this one had been blisteringly hot with high oven-heat temperature and winds increasing – at times gusting to almost cyclonic conditions – blowing all that was not tied down across the streets and along the nearby foreshore. It is apparent to me that if we do not care for ourselves, we will not be able to care for others, nor for any other species in this world.

The other day my friends told me about what amazing organisms bees are, and the incredible work they do. How each bee just lives for her task at hand and is deeply dedicated to it, how the whole hive works together to keep the queen alive and strong, how the whole system works in harmony, and how incredibly hardworking they are for all. Nature: The Ultimate Reflection

I didn’t realise how important green space was for health until I spent time in a city with limited access to the natural elements. When I made my way to the river and botanical gardens, I felt a noticeable shift in the way I was feeling. I let go of the tension I was holding in my body and felt a deep appreciation of the beauty of the natural world.
