Today’s world places intelligence in the hands of degrees and qualifications. Those that have degrees and qualifications are seen as being intelligent, and the unspoken implication is that if you do not have a degree or qualification then you are not deemed as intelligent, or perhaps even seen as being simple. This type of intelligence is based upon knowledge sourced from the outside and accumulated via degrees and qualifications, deemed through grades and calculations of your IQ etc. In this world, a person with a university qualification, or several qualifications, or having achieved in the higher echelons of degrees such as PhDs or post docs, is regarded in ‘higher esteem’ and seen as being ‘highly’ intelligent. Who or What is God?
For a long time God was in my life, but only ever after the words ‘Oh’ and ‘My.’ Beyond that I had no interest whatsoever in having anything to do with him. God was dead to me and me to him, and that was that, or so I thought.
Having been brought up as a church-going Christian, and never really believing in the sandal and robe-wearing figure in the clouds in the first place, by the time I got to my twenties God was definitely not someone I wanted hanging around, judging me for all of my choices. And anyway, God for most people either didn’t exist, or was for people I’d judged as weirdos or oddballs who were religious, or for people of other faiths that I had no relationship with. Definitely not mainstream, definitely not cool, definitely not my thing. Continue reading “Who or What is God?”
Of Gods… and Un-Gods
…“Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.” (1)…
1962… somewhere in England… and school assembly draws to a close… With these stout comforting words echoing in our heads, our day begins in the knowledge that Out There somewhere, a rather stern but gentle and supremely benevolent man, (whose appearance resembles a Victorian Patriarch complete with flowing white beard), watches over us with care, concern and ineffable love while we trudge off to double maths on a dreary, grey, drizzly Thursday morning. Landing My Dream Job
For over 20 years I have wanted to be a training officer and until recently I thought it was going to remain just a dream. However, through learning about true self-care and self-love I have gone from being ‘down and out,’ on the dole, to landing my dream job in just over 3 years.
I come from a family whose members are all claiming disability benefits. They continually argue with their partners and think that is love. I have always known this wasn’t love but didn’t have anything else to compare it with. So I chose to withdraw from life, suffered with psychosis and depression and spent many years claiming Incapacity Benefit. Continue reading “Landing My Dream Job”
The Esoteric – our Divine and True Origins
There is so much about the Esoteric that many either don’t understand or recoil from when they hear this word mentioned. This is mainly due to this word having been bastardised and misused for centuries now, probably due to the fact that the church wanted to control the masses or stop any movement that would allow others to discover truth or a deeper connection to God.
In this blog I want to debunk the many myths and lies around the word Esoteric and share with you what the Esoteric has brought to my life. Continue reading “The Esoteric – our Divine and True Origins”
Valuing the ‘Esoteric’
The word ‘esoteric’ can be traced back to the Pythagorean era where it was simply used to define the ‘inner-most’ of human beings, as opposed to things that were outside of us. It was widely accepted without fuss that it was natural to have this inner core and for human beings to be connected to this part of themselves known as their ‘essence.’ Yet over the years the true meaning of the word has been slowly eroded away to the point that very few people know the true meaning of the word, let alone its magnificent original history.
