The Esoteric – our Divine and True Origins

There is so much about the Esoteric that many either don’t understand or recoil from when they hear this word mentioned. This is mainly due to this word having been bastardised and misused for centuries now, probably due to the fact that the church wanted to control the masses or stop any movement that would allow others to discover truth or a deeper connection to God.

In this blog I want to debunk the many myths and lies around the word Esoteric and share with you what the Esoteric has brought to my life.

The word Esoteric has been said to mean mysterious, secret, hidden, complicated or only known by a few people. These are just some of the misleading words the official Dictionaries use to describe the Esoteric.

In my life I have found the opposite to be true; it has only been through the Esoteric that I have come to understand so much about life, relationships, love, God and the Oneness we are all truly from.

We all know the true meaning of the word Esoteric but we have been bombarded with false pictures and images that obscure the beauty of the meaning of this word; you only have to look up at the night sky to feel there is a deeper connection and a universal intelligence that goes way beyond what we can feel or touch in our everyday lives. The Esoteric is not secret, hidden or mysterious in any way, shape or form. It is inclusive of everyone and treats everyone as equal.

The word Esoteric can be best described by the word ‘inner-most’ – that we are all innately from – a fiery form of love which most of us separated from as a form of protection in order to survive, feeling unable to hold onto this connection to Love in a world that seems to not welcome or support this to be lived.

I know for me I ended up feeling miserable and disconnected from myself and others and feeling like nothing in the world made sense to me at all. You only have to watch a baby or a small child play engaged for hours in their toys to feel the deep connection and the acceptance they have of this awareness and connection to Love. We all have this within us but somewhere along the way we felt the only way to be in the world was to leave this behind, or only show this on occasion.

The Esoteric makes a lot of sense and it’s very practical and simple: it encompasses everyone equally and asks nothing of us, especially in the ‘doing’ sense, but only that we live the love that we already naturally are. The Esoteric cannot be explained intellectually: many try this but people see through the knowledge because deep inside we all know the truth of the Esoteric whether we choose to live this or not.

To fully understand the Esoteric is to live it in full. It is only when one commits to walk this true path do others get the reflection of what the Esoteric truly is. This is not to be perfect in any way, only to live our lives with integrity and a deeper connection to living and sharing this love with others.

For me, the Esoteric changed my life because of the powerful reflection I received from Serge Benhayon’s commitment to living the Esoteric Way, The Way of The Livingness, consistently – showing how natural and normal it is to actually live this way. Whenever Serge presents you can deeply feel the Esoteric in his words, movements and his expression spoken from his Livingness, and when we are open to hearing this, it can make such a profound shift in our bodies and awareness. This is why speaking unlived knowledge about the Esoteric doesn’t resound with others, as it is in the Livingness of the Esoteric, our innermost, that others get to feel and to remember their deep connection to it and how this inspires and ignites others to also live this truth.

Throughout history there have always been those who have sought to suppress the expression and livingness of the Esoteric as it brings up much by way of reflection and shakes the very foundations of their seemingly comfortable lifestyles. With many choosing to remain ‘victims’ of their hurts and of life, they are all too willing to blame others when things go wrong rather than take responsibility for their own actions.

The Esoteric asks us to be fully responsible, as it knows that we are in brotherhood and sees all as equal sons of God. However, even though these attempts to suppress can come with a seemingly great force including the energy of supremacy, security and comfort, this kind of detractor energy can in the end never really touch us because in its true origin and divinity, the Esoteric is our very essence.

  1. Our Inner-most-heart, Essence, Soul-full-ness and Esoteric is, as you have shared Anna, that innate inner self that has always remained connected to God, and Jesus is quoted as saying that the kingdom of God is within.

  2. It is amazing how much words and the truth are bastardised. I have just looked up what the word esoteric means in our current dictionary and its says ‘understood by or meant for only the select few who have special knowledge or interest; recondite’, ‘poetry full of esoteric allusions’, ‘belonging to the select few’ ‘private’ ‘secret’, ‘confidential’. But this could not be further away from the truth. The esoteric is actually all inclusive and within us all. “Everybody comes from the esoteric, it is in them and of them and it is the same in everybody – everybody has the esoteric on the inside. This is a fact that belongs to the meaning of the word esoteric – the inner-most.”Serge Benhayon, Esoteric Teachings & Revelations, p 282. Time to reclaim the truth.

  3. “Whenever Serge presents you can deeply feel the Esoteric in his words, movements and his expression spoken from his Livingness, and when we are open to hearing this, it can make such a profound shift in our bodies and awareness. This is why speaking unlived knowledge about the Esoteric doesn’t resound with others, as it is in the Livingness of the Esoteric, our innermost, that others get to feel and to remember their deep connection to it and how this inspires and ignites others to also live this truth” – this is so true. You can’t borrow or put on the Esoteric.

  4. When I first came across this word, ‘esoteric’ I hadn’t a clue what it meant. When I personally started to experience what it was to be esoteric, I connected with it, I knew this was it, no matter what I did, do, attend or follow, this was the thing/link missing in my life.

It is very simple to live esoterically, for me it is to live life from within and away from the dramas and emotions. I wouldn’t turn away from it again.

    1. Shushila Like you I had no idea what ‘esoteric’ meant, to me now it means to live within oneself this is difficult to do in many ways because the outside way of living is constantly tugging at all of us to look outside of ourselves for the answers to life. I have learnt the hard way that leads to unhappiness and constantly looking at what others have and comparing that to what I have. This is an exhausting way to live quite frankly. When I started to reverse this process and live from within me then many changes occurred I’m not perfect but I can honestly say that I will not change now I know what is true and that is to live from within and didn’t Jesus tell us 2,000+ years ago that the Kingdom of God is inside you? Well, he was speaking the truth.

  5. Every time I read your blog I feel like it is my first time. This says something to me. I could just brush it off and enjoy reading it again, or I could ask myself if I am bringing into my movements what you are offering through your blog. “it is in the Livingness of the Esoteric, our innermost, that others get to feel and to remember their deep connection to it and how this inspires and ignites others to also live this truth.”

  6. It’s very true that the Esoteric is our very essence, because our true beingness comes from our innermost heart and our soul. Saying it that way it’s very obvious that anyone who wants to fight, or try to shut down the Esoteric way of life may be very shut down to their true self, and perhaps in reaction to what the Esoteric by reflection is offering them to look at in their own life to make the return to their own essence. Quite simply, if the Esoteric represents our true nature, for a person to fight it, or to fight others living that way, they have had to first deeply fight themselves.

  7. I love this sentence “you only have to look up at the night sky to feel there is a deeper connection and a universal intelligence that goes way beyond what we can feel or touch in our everyday lives.” It is so true, if you want to consider the majesty of what we are from and what we are a part of, take a moment to feel the magic of the night sky.

  8. The esoteric has for ages being bastardised from its true meaning and what it is for us human beings. The esoteric is simply our innermost, a connection with a dimension that is so much bigger than only us, the universe or with God, a connection we all are longing for but try to avoid, because when we make this connection our preference in life again, we have to stop with our self-created life we at times prefer more.

  9. The early Christians have a very bloody history and one of the many bloody and cruel actions was to pillage and burn the Alexandrian Library. Many of the scrolls were burnt but many were taken away and from those that were taken they re- interpreted the teachings so that the teachings were a bastardised version of the truth. I personally believe this is the false foundation that then became what we know today as the Roman Catholic Church. To me it is a totally false religion which wantonly and totally misrepresents anything and everything about God.

  10. The most effective way to subjugate our innermost is to focus solely on the outermost. This is where the corruption of language enters the equation and causes far more damage than nuclear warfare in terms of the divisiveness and misery it breeds amongst us.

    1. That focus on the outermost has made society as it is, a society we all are part of and have our contribution to and at times do not like because of the ugly faces it can have when we try to become more honest with ourselves and connect with that innermost once again.

  11. The equality that the Esoteric brings to the world, it is to be embraced. We live our lives in such a way that we set ourselves up to be better or less than another ALL the time and that is exhausting to keep up. To live with a knowing that we are all equal is much simpler. Yes we make different choices and have different expressions etc… but that does not make one better or less than another.

  12. Over the last week or so I have really got to see just how much the truth gets bastardised even in the simplest things like day to day conversations it really is quite insidious. Which is why it is so important that we learn to re-connect to ourselves within. Come from this space so we can then feel what is true and what is not.

  13. It is a perfect setup to corrupt the word ‘esoteric’ as a way to “control the masses or stop any movement that would allow others to discover truth or a deeper connection to God…” When in truth, our natural state of being and essence is Esoteric… Simple, uncomplicated Love.

  14. That is so true Anna, the practical nature of the Esoteric has surprised me because I also was hooked by the feeling that it was complicated and exclusive and illusive.

  15. “wanted to control the masses or stop any movement that would allow others to discover truth or a deeper connection to God…” Control – the cause of many wars, supremecy behaviour, separation and disease within communities and within ourselves. An attempt to disable the reconnection to the God/Love within.

  16. Esoteric is and should be our fine and most normal way. Hence it makes sense that if we look it from a detractor point of view that the opposite of what true esoteric is described by dictionaries. We need to live esoteric in full, words without livingness carry no meaning.

  17. The way of the Livingness cannot be learnt so to speak, it needs to be lived and when it is lived our innate knowingness becomes clear.

  18. Understanding Love is a deepening experience as a Student of The Livingness understands that we have all been nudged away from the true meaning of Our-Love, that True-Love which has always remained as our Essence, Esoteric, Inner-most or Soul-full residence with-in our bodies and these are all one in the same name for that which resides within. So we all desire to understand Love but get lost in the reinterpreted versions the nudges that have deluded us from the True understanding of that power-full essence we all seek.

  19. How can we live life without the acceptance of the knowing of who we are? Would this not create a mess of something we are not? And is that not why we live in the world we now live in? Aha, so this tells us that we have to come back to our origin, Soul, our innate love and truth.

    1. Love what you have shared Danna, and adding to what you are sharing about our innate-ness. That it is our natural, “Innate,” Essence, Inner-most, Esoteric or Soul that Love that resides within, is our origins that has never left us and becomes so understood when we come back to our origin, as you have shared Danna, “the knowing of who we are” or the what is.

  20. The commitment of Serge Benhayon to live his life the Esoteric Way, The Way of the Livingness, has reflected and re-imprinted the truth back for us all to return to live this way.

    1. Where would we all be without Serge Benhayon to inspire us that another way of living is possible, a way where we live from our innermost, The Way of the Livingness.

  21. “The Esoteric asks us to be fully responsible, as it knows that we are in brotherhood and sees all as equal sons of God.” as we connect to the love that resides in our innermost, we have an inner knowing that that same love resides in every human being, and in this connection we feel the oneness with all humanity.

    1. Bringing back responsibility into our lives is a great component of the Esoteric, ‘With many choosing to remain ‘victims’ of their hurts and of life, they are, ‘ all too willing to blame others when things go wrong rather than take responsibility for their own actions.’

  22. I’ve found there is definitely a misconception around the word Esoteric. There is an expectation of something a bit odd or weird or secretive, when in fact the simplicity of the esoteric couldn’t be farther from any of that. And to add that once I connected to my innermost , my inner heart, life became more and more simple, loving and meaningful with everyone.

    1. Esoteric is such a beautiful word so simple yet so grand. Reconnecting us to the divinity we come from that is forever inside us all. I am slowly waking up to the fact that some people have not wanted to connect to the esoteric and because of that have changed the meaning to be what it is not.
Thank you Anna, Rosanna and all those who have commented for reclaiming this word for humanity.

  23. Because we remain in old patterns of comforts we now get to see the nature showing us that this is not to do any longer. It will rock our comfort.

  24. Thinking of something as being mysterious, hidden, secretive, abstruse or obscure is pretty off-putting and poisonous I would say, when in truth, as you share, the esoteric is none of those things.

  25. I get a feeling from your words Anna that you are living it, so your words are powerful and at the same time down to earth, nothing airy-fairy about them which often comes though writing when the author is full of just knowledge.

    1. Words can be mis-interpreted and re-interpreted when they are not lived. This is what I have come to learn from living a more present and responsible way and now I have no problem with words that have been difficult for me to say or understand in the past.

  26. Words are just words if the truth of those words are not lived. They may be misinterpreted, misunderstood avoided and judged. It is not the words then it is our own beliefs, ideals and judgements we can lace those words with.

  27. What is so wondrous about truth of the ‘esoteric’ is that it represents the all that we divinely are and all we are from as such connected to, and as we all are of the fathering light of God we all are His equal Sons. This truth cannot be altered along with the responsibility we are born with however hard we try to resist, deny or corrupt it. Our relationship with the esoteric, our divine quality within is inescapable as such is precisely designed to guide our way of being in this plane of life.

  28. “The Esoteric asks us to be fully responsible, as it knows that we are in brotherhood and sees all as equal sons of God.” Yet it is this very responsibility that so many rail against. We want our cake – and eat it too – yet don’t like the consequences of so doing.

  29. People refer to their origins as in family’s origins or countries or places where they originally come from and although these facts play a certain role in what we feel familiar with and the personality we have developed, it is not our true origin and thus keeps us in separation without the one ultimate and only true origin we all share and can find within – the esoteric.

    1. Great point Alex, and when you consider this further, the esoteric – the natural state and quality of every single human being indicates that we all actually originate and are of one family … brotherhood.

  30. “The Esoteric makes a lot of sense and it’s very practical and simple: ….. only that we live the love that we already naturally are.” And that love that we are is within the inner-most of every one of us.

  31. It is because the Esoteric asks us to be fully responsible that it is rejected and complicated by those who prefer to hold onto their hurts. I understand that it is a huge ask to become more aware and responsible when we have no nothing else for so long.

  32. So beautiful so true and real, the esoteric is a joy to know and live from with a responsibility and commitment to. “it has only been through the Esoteric that I have come to understand so much about life, relationships, love, God and the Oneness we are all truly from.”

  33. Living in connection with the ‘inner most’ is our most natural way of being. When we lose touch with our essence all of life becomes chaotic, both inside our bodies and in our world.
