Connective Tissue Exercise: Discovering a Different Way to Exercise and to be with my Body

Recently I have been doing Connective Tissue Exercise classes with Kate Greenaway; these have been an immense support to me in helping me learn a new way to exercise and to develop a relationship with my body in a loving and gentle way.

Growing up I very much disliked being forced to run and play sports at school, which felt very taxing on my little body. I would do anything to get out of doing high impact sports that did not feel right, including lifting heavy weights in the school gym. I would get teary when school sports or P.E classes would come around; I had to push myself to run as the impact would feel shocking to my body. Physical Pain and the Miracle of Esoteric Connective Tissue Therapy

Despairingly I stood, thinking to myself “What am I to do? How can I do it?” I had already walked 50 metres from the car park and the shop where I needed to buy a few things for dinner that night was only another few metres along. I stood trying to decide whether the level of pain would allow me those few extra steps – but then the thought of having to actually walk around the shop as well as the steps back to the car saw the fortitude dissolve. Was I really listening to my body or was I giving up – giving in to the pain?

The L-o-o-o-o-n-g Weekend (Is Universal Medicine a Good Investment? You Bet!)

Back in October ‘03 I was living a leisurely life in a comfortable house on a desirable property… lovely partner, nice kids, fruit trees… the easy life. Or so it seemed. Gnawing away on the inside was a persistent longing – a deep knowing that something wasn’t right. More so, the consistent consumption of alcohol and coffee was pointing the finger straight at that: why does one need all this stimulation and artificial relaxation if everything is so cool? Continue reading “The L-o-o-o-o-n-g Weekend (Is Universal Medicine a Good Investment? You Bet!)”

I feel to share my experience with tenderness and practising the modality of Esoteric Connective Tissue Therapy as presented by Universal Medicine.

It is such a beautiful and fine method of healing.

This particular esoteric modality has supported me to drop deeper into my body and into stillness, and to really begin to connect to my tenderness. Continue reading “Connective Tissue Therapy – Connecting to my Tenderness”

The Joy of Music Without the Pain

My past has been heavily entrenched in music. I was always drawn to it as a form of expression – from waking up first thing in the morning singing the latest nursery rhyme taught at kindergarten, to learning to play my favourite pop songs on piano or guitar. I joined the school choir, and I was always playing music on the radio or my favourite album: I worked for a number of years in a CD shop, married an amazing singer/songwriter and have hung out with a lot of musicians. I loved every minute of it… or so I thought. The Power of Group Work

by Johanna Fredericks, Perth WA

Recently I attended a True Expression workshop held by Victoria Carter in Perth. A small group of about 8 of us participated. The workshop was open, safe, playful and joyful. The main part I wish to share about is the power of group work.

I know that the words group work and singing don’t seem to have much in common but they actually do! I learned about the true power of group work… it was amazing! Continue reading “The Power of Group Work”
