The Power of Group Work

by Johanna Fredericks, Perth WA

Recently I attended a True Expression workshop held by Victoria Carter in Perth. A small group of about 8 of us participated. The workshop was open, safe, playful and joyful. The main part I wish to share about is the power of group work.

I know that the words group work and singing don’t seem to have much in common but they actually do! I learned about the true power of group work… it was amazing! Continue reading “The Power of Group Work”

Esoteric Yoga: The Yoga of Stillness

by Lyndy Summerhaze, Crabbes Creek, Australia

When I sat down to write about Esoteric Yoga and stillness the question naturally arose: “If we don’t know stillness how can we know true movement?” This almost felt like a basic tenet of what yoga is all about. We move and speak using the energy that is already present in the body – and if that energy is in disarray, then our movement and expression will be of that same quality. I have come to realise that to know and connect to the stillness within the body is first essential if I want to move and speak in a true way.  Continue reading “Esoteric Yoga: The Yoga of Stillness”

Feeling Free to Sing

by Johanna Fredericks

I had an amazing and very empowering experience a couple of weeks ago. I experienced something that I hadn’t done in my life, until now. I sang while driving in my car, with my mum next to me, without any inhibitions. I felt free to sing.

It was so amazing for me to feel this freedom in singing as I had basically lived my life since childhood avoiding any singing, especially in front of people, at school and in groups. The sad thing was – I love to sing.   Continue reading “Feeling Free to Sing”

Esoteric Yoga: Union with Me and God… at last

By Fiona McGovern, Isle of Arran, Scotland

LOOKING FOR UNION

I am often asked if I do yoga and my answer has been, “yes I do, but no, not in the way I used to practise and teach it”.

Yoga claims to be uncompetitive, and a way to find union.

I practised yoga for over 30 years and taught it for 20 years: I worked with some of the leading teachers from around the world and read widely on the subject.

Yes, yoga does mean union, but I never found an explanation of what that union was… just something wishy-washy, like connecting to your ‘higher self’ – and that was left to your own interpretation. It always felt like an unattainable state. It was like a carrot in front of me that kept me hooked; forever enticing me to get to an elusive destination outside of me and far away – always requiring more study, another posture and more courses – which I dutifully did. Esoteric Yoga Classes: An Amplifier for Within

by Lee Green, Business Manager, Perth

I stood this morning in the shower, gently washing myself, feeling my feet supporting me as I stood in balance… totally balanced and steady with me. As I felt my feet, my fingertips were feeling all that they touched and gently washed. My hair and my scalp were right underneath them as they massaged my head. This simple feeling of me, being with me as I do something, has been brought about over time by the steady commitment to be with me always. I have supported myself to develop this connection through the regular study of esoteric yoga. Continue reading “Esoteric Yoga Classes: An Amplifier for Within”

Esoteric Healing: Coming back to Me

by Jean Grima, Children’s Day Care worker, 43, Sydney, Australia

When I was a little girl my joy and happiness were immense; as a child I felt a lot. I always felt different to people around me, I was always curious and felt things deeply. Sometimes I felt more of what was going on around me in life than what others seemed to be showing they were seeing and feeling, which confirmed my feeling of being different. People fascinated me, and at this young age I was able to see truth and what wasn’t truth really easily, but as I got older, because I felt stupid and jealous of others’ academic abilities, my true core feelings got clouded with a feeling of failure and lack of self worth.
