Sceptical Husband makes his Own Choices

by Gustavo, UK

My wife Priscila was a student of Universal Medicine (UniMed) six months before me. In the beginning I reacted a lot to her new choices, and I had an arsenal to attack her with. How could our lives have changed so quickly? I thought that what we had before UniMed was a great life. How wrong was I!

My first contact with Universal Medicine was through a gentle breath meditation. One day I decided to give it a try. These ten minutes were huge for me. For the first time I connected to myself. I then decided to have a session with Sara Williams and that was really inspiring!

I continued my sessions and slowly started to build truth and real love with myself and my wife, and making choices in my life that were based on what my body was feeling. Alcohol, for example, was a poison. After a few months of sessions I had a glass of wine with friends. That was a marker for me – the next day I was very tired and had a fever. I then realised what my body was telling me is that it couldn’t stand the alcohol any longer.

So that was it, one more of the many choices that changed me based on what I was feeling. I am from Brazil, born into a very traditional, Catholic family. It was a little bit scary in the beginning, but then it was so easy to really feel the harmony that was being presented by UM.

There are some allegations that Universal Medicine is for women. Well, I am a man and I see a lot of guys attending the sessions, the workshops… I believe we all share the same opinion.

And, being a student for one year and a half I can say that the allegations that Universal Medicine is a cult are absolutely FALSE! I have never been told what to do, what to eat, what to follow… Serge Benhayon and his family never gave me a ‘to do’ list. I make the choices in my life, they only support me and I am very grateful for that!

  1. Experiencing body work with the Esoteric Healing modalities is life changing. I have many memorable sessions I will never forget. These healing modalities offer everything that is needed to know more of who you are. As Gustavo presents coming back to feeling life makes a whole lot of more sense. “So that was it, one more of the many choices that changed me based on what I was feeling.”

  2. We make our own choices, we have the responsibility and the right, so no one can tell us what to do, and whatever choices we have made, those are our consequences to bear, this is self-responsibility that is taught, something that not a lot of families or the education system has taught children.

  3. Nope, I’ve never seen a ‘to-do’ list either Gustavo, my body does a pretty awesome job of that, it knows when it’s tired, it knows what to eat and how to move – it’s just whether I listen to it or not that counts.

  4. Gustavo how loving that you went to experience the gentle breath meditation yourself, and were open enough to feel the reaction of your body after a glass of alcohol. Our body passes a great deal of information onto us, we need only be open to listening and making those self loving changes that support us to be more loving ourselves, and our whole life changes.

  5. It is five years since you penned these words. We were on the same journey and have walked together. There are many we have seen blossom including ourselves. The appreciation of where we came from is beyond imagination.

  6. Whether you are a man or woman, truth is truth and we know it when we feel it. Pigeonholing is a very cheap tactic to employ when trying to invent and isolate an issue when there isn’t one.

  7. Reactions are a great marker indicating we have some healing to do whether it is simply making a choice to observe or a hurt has arisen for us to look at and to let go of but whatever the case to react in some way harms ourselves and others and the more I allow myself to feel the abuse made to my body by reacting the more I am choosing observation.

  8. In a world that is busy, fast paced and at times quite overwhelming the gentle breath mediation is literally like a breath of fresh air that gives us the space to stop, reconnect to ourselves and start again.

  9. “I am from Brazil, born into a very traditional, Catholic family. It was a little bit scary in the beginning, but then it was so easy to really feel the harmony that was being presented by UM.” Strip away all the conditions we’ve layered ourselves with and you end up with what Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine has been presenting from day one, that we are already everything and the process is getting rid of everything that makes us think we are not that everything.

  10. “I continued my sessions and slowly started to build truth and real love with myself and my wife, and making choices in my life that were based on what my body was feeling.” This is so simple yet so deeply inspiring Gustavo. To be offered a way to make lasting changes for the better in your relationships is a true blessing.

  11. I love hearing these stories where one has made the choice just to dip their toe in to test the water only to find they can’t help but put their whole body in.

    1. Especially when it brings such blessings to not only their lives but to all those they come into contact with as well.

      1. Totally Irena, this becomes part of the pull when we start to feel the great power we hold for change in others when we live the love we are.

  12. I too have heard the allegations that Universal Medicine is only for women. I once read that all the women of Universal Medicine were like Stepford Wives. If you believed that and walked into any event you’d get a big fat shock. Not only would you be met with many gorgeous men but you’d be met by a bunch of powerful sassy women who reflect that being a woman and being delicate is power.

  13. How easy is it to have a go at someone or something these days if you don’t like them or it? I mean when I was growing up the town gossip would start on something and then after a few days a bit more would go around and usually someone would come along and set the record straight and you would nearly be shocked at what had been said and how inaccurate it was. It reminds me of a game called ‘chinese whispers’, where one person whispers something to another who passes in onto another and around it goes until the last person repeats what they heard and you usually laugh because it only represents part of what was originally said. If we fast forward to today and we have the internet, available almost everywhere, accessible by nearly everyone 24 hours a day, platforms that allow you to pretty much say anything and I mean anything, access to it instantly etc etc. There is no place to set a record straight here, it’s just your word in with other words. I know it’s a dangerous game to just listen to the first or even now the second thing that is said about anything. Like when I was young I don’t like being shocked at how far things can go from what is true, now I stand when I hear or read something and breathe. I remember all those ‘chinese whisper’ moments and I take care in what I do next. If I really have an interest in what I read then I will do some research and get another take or another side to it. My best way to learn has always been through my own actual experience.

  14. Thank you Gustavo for sharing your experiences of feeling into and listening to what your body was offering thereby making the choice to heal.

  15. Its interesting the reactions that come when we do start to make more loving choices. But it’s important to learn to simply observe them and see what they are and it is rarely about us and our choice but what that is reflecting that someone else may not want to see for themselves.

  16. Real and lasting change comes from within first, from a knowing of what feels true. As with you and many other students of The Way of The Livingness that have been incredible transformation in health, well-being and vitality with lasting changes that continued to be lived today. This is a direct reflection of how Universal Medicine has inspired many to discover that our connection to our our bodies and our truth within is our greatest guide to living in a way that honors who we are, so that we can live with greater love and truth in our lives, and how natural to live more Soulfully is.

  17. It can be challenging to look at our life and our choices and be confronted with the fact that we have not been living a full and loving life, especially when we think we have. But once we do make that first step we see that it is so worth it and mostly that we are so worth it.

  18. Thank you Gustavo for adding your voice to the many men who have been and are inspired by Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine to find a true way of living.

  19. I totally agree that there is no truth in the Media reports on Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine being a cult! I have been involved with Universal Medicine for over 10 years and not once has there been any experience of coercion to do, be or say anything other than what feels right for me. Everything reported and sensationalised in the Papers and online are pure fabrications made to discredit a wonderful inspirational man and organisation, that has only ever encouraged us to make our own decisions about our own lives!

  20. It feels so empowering when we listen to our body and the choices are made by us from our experiences in life and it is also very beautiful when we surrender to humbleness and be inspired by another. Thank you Gustavo for sharing.

  21. Gustavo you wrote: “. . . making choices in my life that were based on what my body was feeling.” For me making such choices are the best medicine of all. Our body can show very clearly what is not good for it – if we allow ourself to be open to feel it.

  22. You make a very important point here Gustavo. Our upbringing and the way we live our lives builds up a momentum of choices, beliefs, ideals, pictures etc. so when someone around us starts to make different choices based on what they feel in their body to be true for them, it can be very challenging for those close to them because the comfortable status quo is no longer being accepted. We can see their different choices as criticisms of our own choices, or we can open ourselves up to the inspiration that is being offered. It’s always a choice – our choice and no-one else’s.

  23. “I make the choices in my life, they only support me and I am very grateful for that!” It is the most empowering thing I have heard been presented by any person or organisation that we are responsible for our life – it is our choices. Many may argue this fact – that is a choice and one that disempowers you.

  24. The lies about Universal Medicine in the media have really opened my eyes to corruption in the media, but also to the corruption everywhere. One of the gifts of being a student of Universal Medicine is learning to trust the body and its intelligence – the body is so truthful and very loud when something is untrue.

  25. Well here is one more man in the line of many Gustavo! I agree, as men it’s important to know that being gentle and looking after ourselves is actually awesome : )

    1. And how awesome it is to witness those men blossoming in their tenderness…

  26. Thank you Gustavo for sharing your journey of a sceptical husband to embracing the teachings of Universal Medicine and finding the simple, practical, self-care techniques that truly worked and supported your body.

  27. Dear Gustavo,
I love reading how you felt when you did the gentle breath meditation. Simply 10 minutes of an activity that allows you to connect to yourself can bring so much love and joy in your life. Is this not a miracle?

  28. Thank you Gustavo. Very beautiful to read your experience. As I was just reflecting on when I first attended a Universal Medicine presentation and I was struck by how many men were there. I have been to many complementary medicine workshops before and used to seeing at most, a handful of men. This was different. 5 years later I still see both men and women coming to the presentations. Why? Because what is presented can be very practically applied by anybody attending. There is no concepts to believe. Just a presentation and then a choice to live.

  29. When we commit to building more love and truth in our body, in our relationships and in all that we do our everyday life is literally transformed and infused with purpose and grace.

  30. Gustavo you have shared your own life yet it may be very similar to all the students of Universal Medicine. We begin by reconnecting to ourselves with the Gentle Breath Meditation, we listen to Serge and decide the truth for ourselves, and we begin to listen to and honour the body which leads to greater good health, harmony and better relationships – etc etc – better everything! Universal Medicine is indeed not a ‘cult’, in fact it couldn’t be further from this word!

  31. Thank you for sharing your story and standing up for Universal Medicine. The harm caused by false accusations and rumours is extensive… but the power to debunk and dissolve them comes through heartfelt sharings such as this.

  32. It can be confronting to realise that the way that we have been living is causing untold harm to the body and it’s no surprise that there will be resistance because it’s quite a pill to swallow but how awesome it is that you were open enough Gustavo to embrace what is truly a normal and harmonious way of living as presented by Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine. This way of living is real medicine for the body. How ridiculous it is that we deem consuming alcohol which is toxic to the body as being the normal thing to do simply because the majority are doing it.

  33. It is a strange occurrence but the majority of us react to love when it is first presented however in the warming up period we can see what we have chosen to ignore and how much we have missed it. Sometimes we can be abusive to avoid feeling the fact, this is the biggest pill to sallow. That is always the attack of ourselves.

  34. Awesome sharing Gustavo on how you listened to the wisdom of your own body and only chose what felt true for you. Those that point the finger and say we are all blind followers refuse to accept the fact that what Serge Benhayon presents around self-care truly works, no rules, just simple self-care principles that support your body to feel more vital and true.

  35. In fact, Universal Medicine has set an end to my to-do-lists. I have learned a way of planning my days that is more about surrendering to the flow. And at the end of the day all that needed to be done is done.

  36. ‘Alcohol, for example, was a poison’, this is so true. When we choose to listen to our body and be completely honest with ourselves, all the signs are there communicated by our body that alcohol definitely is a poison whenever it is consumed. The reason you’ll find many, many Students of Universal Medicine who choose to not drink alcohol, definitely not because of following anyone or was ever told to not drink alcohol but because we have learnt to truly listen to our body, to choose self-love and self-care. And to appreciate how sacred and precious our bodies are, and therefore any form of abuse is not loving. Everyone has a choice to choose love or not and we are never judged for our choices. We are all responsible for our own choices and how we choose to live. The support and love is always consistently present at Universal Medicine to inspire others to choose love and truth, never imposing, just allowing people to make their own choices.

  37. Awesome blog Gustavo, your choice to give Universal Medicine a try through the Gentle Breath Mediation was a great introduction. It is a very powerful way to connect to who we are. You inspire me to practice this everyday.

  38. “My first contact with Universal Medicine was through a gentle breath meditation. One day I decided to give it a try. These ten minutes were huge for me. For the first time I connected to myself.” Gustavo, what a gift these ten minutes were. How deeply precious and life changing! How wonderful your journey has been since then, ever deepening and confirming the wisdom and living truth held in your body.

  39. I found it a little bit scary in the beginning too Gustavo, because my family aren’t Associated with any religions. But, like you, it’s hard to ignor what your feeling and the harmony presented by universal medicine is basically tangible!

  40. Thank you for sharing these words Gustavo, the simple truth is all that is needed to make all the other stories of cults and sexism look like the nonsense that it is.

  41. What is more ‘convincing’ than one´s body telling you so? With Universal Medicine it is all about making your own choices based on your own criterias, taking full responsibility for your decisions, never give your power away or blame others for what you have done yourself – if that is cultish that is fine with me and I would suggest it to be the next mainstream trend forever as overall health issues and social problems of all kinds would tremendously decrease.
It just takes some common sense to know that.

  42. Awesome Gustavo! Thank you for being a man and blowing those allegations out of the water! You’re a wonderful example of the simplicty and honesty that comes with self responsibility.

  43. I’m glad that many men attend Universal Medicine workshops and presentations as I love to hear their input. It really adds a valuable perspective that I as a woman may not have thought of or hadn’t realised before. So it has been a blessing for me that men like you, Gustavo, have found that what Serge Benhayon has been presenting has relevance and have continued to attend workshops/presentations and to take responsibility for their own lives.

  44. It is beautiful to read how the potential for harmony that is presented by Universal Medicine crosses cultures, religions and sexes to be available for all should they choose it for themselves.

  45. Thanks for sharing Gustavo, it’s great that the choices you have made have all come from what you feel to do and not from being told what you should do. My experience of Universal Medicine has been the same, I have never been told how to live my life but have just been presented with a more loving and harmonious way of being.

  46. A truly honouring blog. In my experience of over 8 years I too have not been told what to do or eat, it is left to us to discern for ourselves what we wish to do. Seeing the amazing results in peoples lives after not eating gluten or dairy products is incredible, with good health and vitality and joy being just a part of this, so why would you ignore these results and continue to load your body with poisons.

  47. Thank you Gustavo. To be offered the depth of love that I could feel when I first attended Universal Medicine was a little scary – I did not have a marker of love until I began having sessions with an esoteric practitioner and at first I could not make out what was going on. I knew to keep going back for more and yet at the same time I could feel a resistance and confusion. There were times when I wanted to run away – and yet I continued to keep attending events and now that love is feeling so amazing and life changing. I cannot imagine life without love.

  48. It is extraordinary how ten minutes can change a life time if we are so willing to connect to the depth of that stillness.

  49. Living a constant row of choices is what we are doing as human beings. And if we do decide to choose from the body, the inner heart, we get to make self loving choices. Ain’t that worth re-imprinting the “normal” aspect of who we are living? I find myself appreciating the way of living in truth rather then living a life of fulfilling it in any way.

  50. The power in ‘giving it a try’ or entertaining the possibilities or what if’s that Serge Benhayon and Universal Medcine presents is huge and so simple and they never stop coming – always presenting that there is more and more to feel and express in a quality of life we may not have chosen in the past. Accounts such as yours Gustavo and others in regards to the gentle breath putting into motion other changes is nothing to be sniffed at (instead breathed in gently).

  51. Powerfully and so wonderfully said Gustavo, your words here so full of love: “I started to build truth and real love with myself and my wife, and making choices in my life that were based on what my body was feeling”. Living life through feeling, and feeling the effects on our body is the way back to love.

  52. Thank you Gustavo and Priscila, the transformation in so many student’s lives because of the way they now treat their bodies gently with self-loving rhythms, is thanks to Serge Benhayon.
The difference between the loveless existence that was the students way of life before Serge Benhayon to the loving way most now live is an absolute miracle.

  53. Gustavo so simply shared. The change seems so small and insignificant but the results is life changing. I too have experienced this.

  54. Beautifully expressed Gustavo. It is amazing how making loving choices that supports your physical body can transform how you live each and every day.

  55. A beautiful expression of truth Gustavo, it is all about our own choices to live the way that supports us most.

  56. Well said Gustavo. Universal Medicine is for women and men equally. It is not a cult but a gift for humanity. I have seen many amazing transformations in people associated with it who, like you, make their own choices.

  57. I really love your honesty and clarity. Making loving choices by listening to your own body, not your wife or not anybody else. Awesome.

  58. I feel that many people have bagged Universal Medicine and criticised them, saying they are a cult because they are left with uncertainty as to how else do you explain up to or even over a thousand people changing their life for the better, actually to be much more whole, glorious and grand. The way these thousand people have done this is so simple, connect within, feel our body and feel what’s going on in there. Then any pains or discomfort or anything we feel that is out of place we stop and with all honesty feel what is going on, and how we can make changes in our choices or behaviours to come back to the steady, grand and glorious way we know we are.

  59. I love how you express your experience of Universal Medicine and the changes that you have chosen to make in your life. There is deep honesty within this blog that I really appreciate. It feels light and simple – and matter of fact. Thank you.

  60. Gustavo, you are definitely a man that makes his own choices, and they are very inspirational. As Julia says, there is true intelligence on display here.

  61. I feel the same way Gustavo, just listen to how my body feels when i eat, drink or do anything. There are no rules from Universal Medicine, just the presentation that listening to your body and acting upon what it tells you will take you a long way toward health and well being. This has certainly been true for me.

    1. This has been true for me too Kate. Since I have been attending Universal Medicine presentations and courses I have learnt to listen to my body on a deeper level. The benefit of this has been profound.

  62. Gustavo, I love your sincerity and openness. A short but sweet blog, that is so powerful.
It is too hard to resist someone who is loving themselves more and therefore you!

I have seen so many people in my life transform, all based on returning to living in more simplicity and to being honest about what is really going on and how we really feel.

  63. Yes so true Gustavo, having been a student for about 5 years now, I have never once been told what to do. I am not good at being told what to do. Usually I react and go the other way. With Universal Medicine I have been so inspired though, from what I have seen that I have made heaps of changes in my life. I can honestly say that these have been the best 5 years of my life.

  64. What a great blog Gustavo. I love how honest you were to be able to listen to your body in regards to the alcohol and make a choice based on the intelligence of your body. There is no one that can argue that — no amount of ‘alcohol is good for you cause it is made from grapes!’ These type of myths can disprove what your body knows.

  65. Agree Heather, seems a bit silly blaming someone else for two persons relationship breaking up. Not much of a responsibility there is it…

  66. Deeply appreciating the honesty of what you have shared here Gustavo, in regards to your relationship with Universal Medicine. Clearly, you are nobody’s fool – a man who makes his own choices – and have discerned with astuteness, and also truly appreciated the differences made and experienced in your own life following on from your involvement with Universal Medicine.
It is truthful accounts such as yours, that completely debase the falsity that a small few seek to spread about Universal Medicine – lies that have been picked up by elements of the media who care not for the truth of a story, but only for the sell of a story.

  67. “One day I decided to give it a try… For the first time I connected to myself” – Wow thats a huge thing is’t it? No wonder that some people do not choose to make this ‘give it a try’ because you may open up the door to a big new playground and realizations… But you should have the possibility to make this choice – aren’t you? Universal Medicine presenting health and wisdom and everybody on this world should given the opportunity to make their choice to ‘give it a try’ or not. So the ones who are creating false allegations against Universal Medicine hinder the free access to Universal Medicine – for people to make their own choice. Apart of that it is a wrongdoing anyway to lie in any way shape or form, for me, which is one of those who did also ‘give it a try’ and since then developing an every day more loving and joyful life – it is an absolute crime.

  68. Thank you Gustavo, I relate to your scepticism at first and was the same when my wife first started going to Universal Medicine presentations. Yet I couldn’t deny the changes I started to see in her. A strength that from the outset was not imposing on me -she just let me be without me feeling she didn’t care. She let me find my own way to Universal Medicine healing sessions and events. It could’t have been any other way. I had to choose it for myself as everyone must. This is why so many who are writing on several blog sites, are writing with such strength and conviction. Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine is the real deal.

  69. Thanks for this Gustavo. There is such clarity and simple truth expressed in this blog. And you can easily feel and see here that you’ve written from what you’ve actually experienced for yourself first hand. That’s the most credible account of all when speaking about any subject matter.

  70. Great Gustavo, thank you for sharing!, it is good to see that some intelligent people decide to pay attention to their body and what they feel to make new choices, no mater what set of beliefs they come from, choices that benefit their bodies, their relationships and their lives.

    1. I agree Rachel. People who choose to make up stories about Universal Medicine are simply not willing to accept truth and love. Whenever truth is being attacked, it is the attackers that gets hurt because truth is truth, and no matter what happens it doesn’t change.

  71. Beautiful sharing Gustavo. It is so important to make your OWN choices in your OWN time because then it is your OWN truth. Nobody can fault that. And this is another proof that Universal Medicine is quite the opposite of a cult – Universal Medicine explicitly INVITES you to make your own choices, with much more awareness of what that really means.

  72. Sometimes what our body tells us when we choose to listen can be a ‘bitter pill to swallow’. I for sure have had that experience and know it can take a lot of dedication and commitment to keep on choosing the path that we innately know is true, rather than the familiar path. Those who seek to denigrate what Universal Medicine offers may wish to ponder on this. There are hundreds of people now who, like yourself are living testament to the truth of what Serge Benhayon [ MODERATORS -add hyperlink please: https://www.universalmedicine.com.au/about/clinics/practitioners/serge-benhayon ] presents and I too can affirm that Universal Medicine is definitely not a cult, if it were, I’d have run the other way!

  73. “I make the choices in my life, they (Universal Medicine) only support me and I am very grateful for that!” Gustavo, I too am also very grateful to Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine for presenting and supporting the very fact that I have a choice! For so many years I felt powerless, a victim of so many outside influences. It now feels so liberating to say ‘I make the choices in my life’.

  74. I enjoyed reading your article Gustavo. I thought my life was pretty good and that nothing much needed changing – how wrong I was! Since listening to presentations by Serge Benhayon and attending workshops I have gradually learned to listen to the messages that my body has been giving me that I had been ignoring and accepting as the normal wear and tear of an aging body. Taking personal responsibility for the choices I now make has been a revelation and realize that my old ‘pretty good’ was pretty rubbish.

  75. This is beautiful to read Gustavo, ‘I continued my sessions and slowly started to build truth and real love with myself and my wife, and making choices in my life that were based on what my body was feeling.’ So simple and inspiring.

  76. Thank you for your beautiful sharing Gustavo, and lovely to have a man explain how he came to be a student of Universal Medicine (and himself). You obviously found for yourself, by listening to your body that what Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine were presenting made sense. You had the proof in yourself, through your own body.

  77. Great to hear from you Gustavo! I get amazed every time I have slipped a bit and feel out of sorts and eventually when I take the time to bring myself back with the Gentle Breath Meditation it’s delivering time after time. Invaluable support!

  78. Yes I agree, I was never told what to do, say, eat, think, I was simply open to the idea there must be another way, and it was certainly working for those who committed to it.

  79. Thank you Gustavo, for sharing your experience of Universal Medicine so open and honestly. I love how you described your experience of the Gentle Breath Meditation…”These ten minutes were huge for me. For the first time I connected to myself.” The Gentle Breath Meditation has been a life changer for me also. This simple technique has supported me immensely to feel settled in my body and connected to myself.

  80. What Universal Medicine offers is very common sense, a way to get connected with yourself again, develop true inner health and gain a deeper understanding of people. There are few things in this world more important than that.

  81. Gustavo I can really relate about making the “transition” away from Catholicism to Universal Medicine. I was also brought up as a Catholic but I always knew that it did not feel true for me but continued as there seemed to be no better alternative! I did not realise that the “alternative” was coming back to me and my connection to soul and when this was presented at a Unimed course it made so much sense. I live with three amazing men- my husband and two sons -all of us are living proof of the positive impact that the teachings of Universal Medicine have had in our lives.

  82. Yea not once have we been told what to do. Simply asked to maybe look at the bigger picture and pay attention to the reactions we get from our body… Pretty normal thing to do seeming as though we live with our body. Love the way you have explained it- super simple. It’s all our choice.

  83. Connecting to what our bodies really need is actually so easy and simple. I have certainly tried following a lot of ‘rules’ in my life and when I discovered Universal Medicine and Serge Benhayon, I attempted to make things I heard into ‘rules’ too. I can see now how damaging it is to live this way and I am learning to let go of my self imposed ‘rules’. This was very lovely to read Gustavo. I love that you simply gave things a try and felt what was true for you. A great reminder for me to do the same.

  84. Hi Gustavo, I so love your simple sharing and saying it how it is. Thank you for expressing what you have been offered by Universal Medicine. It’s the love we all are and really want, but have forgotten how to live that love for ourselves.

  85. Thank you Gustavo for showing that we can all choose to either resist or be inspired and that which ever we choose it is always up to us! None can choose for us or force us to choose anything, and making loving choices for ourselves has nothing to do with being a man or a woman!

  86. Thank you Gustavo for your confirmation of how Universal Medicine enriches men and women equally. No coercion, no imposition. Simply those who live inspiring lives share their awareness. And there is support when asked for to assist anyone to deepen their own awareness and heal their own issues. A great model for the whole world if you ask me.

  87. Thank you for sharing Gustavo. It is great to hear your initial misgivings about Universal Medicine and that you were left free to choose for yourself what was right for you. As you said, you made these choices based on what your body was feeling, and Universal Medicine and associated practitioners are there to support, not dictate.

  88. Gustavo, it is lovely to read your honest account of the choices you made. It demonstrates that the body knows what is needed and as long as we listen to it we are guided by that. Serge Benhayon just points the way back to ourselves.

  89. Dear Gustavo,
So beautiful, yes our choices are ours to make, for any one to say other wise shows that they have no respect for the power of true choice.

  90. This is true Gustavo, Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine do not tell anyone that they must do this or must not do that. If you think otherwise you have misunderstood what he presents. As you say, we can all easily feel what is true and right for ourselves as this comes from our body, and this is what is presented through Serge Benhayon’s own lived experience.

  91. Beautiful Gustavo- Thank you for honestly sharing the process you went through and what you felt over time. I love how short, simple yet claimed and to the point your piece is while is knocks out the false allegations directly. Yes Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine have never told anyone what to do- I can vouch for that. As I can also vouch for the enormous support that is offered by them for those who choose it.

  92. I love your blog Gustavo, a very simple and true account of what Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine offers – freedom to make our own choices.

  93. Gustavo, what you share is very informative, whether you agree with Universal Medicine or not the opportunity is always there to go deeper with the choices we make that affect our health. That you noticed the affect of alcohol on your body so strongly was perhaps a telling that alcohol was something you were now aware was harming your body, where before you were not quite so clear. The deepening of the self care we can make in this regard is a quite beautiful and a powerful offering available to anyone who wishes to go there.

  94. Indeed, Gustavo. It was this invitation to take responsibility for myself and make different choices without any pressure or judgement, that has made Universal Medicine so accessable for me as well. Since then there have been enormous changes in my life. Thank you Serge Benhayon.

  95. That is the real difficulty with true healing (as presented by Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine) is that there are actually NO TO DO LISTS and no one to follow (or blame), no way to buy your way free of hurt, no way to wish it away. ONLY real, common sense honesty with a dash of commitment.

    1. And in fact, many more men attend Universal Medicine workshops than other healing workshops I have attended. Men love this as a form of healing because it is grounded, makes sense and they can feel that it is true.

    2. Very true Rebecca, when one first realises this its a bit baffling, no game to play, no being better than another or winning favours, just honesty, a lot of honesty and definitely commitment to self. Nothing is demanded of us, we are just shown how to connect to our essence and encouraged to discern for ourselves what is true or not.

  96. The longer I am a student of Universal Medicine the shorter “my to do” list gets and in comes “I can.”

  97. Beautiful, Gustavo. You have simply captured the essence of the Universal Medicine teachings – that all the answers are within us and we only need to look there to find the truth and love we have always been looking for. And this is the same for every man, woman and child. No-one or nothing can do this for us, only show us that we have been looking in the wrong places.

  98. What nonsense it is that when someone teaches self care and connection that they are a cult. We have come to Universal Medicine gently and through inspiration. Nobody knocked on the door, nobody was assigned to watch over us and no one tried to convert us to a doctrine. Like you, Gustavo, things just made sense to me and the healings were a revelation of myself to myself.

  99. We all have to come to truth in our own timing. Thanks you for sharing how you got to truth.

  100. I love it. Simple and straight to the point with the inspiration of listening to your body to make changes instead of following a set of rules. Go you! 🙂

  101. Love your honesty and sharing Gustavo of how you listened to what was being offered at Universal Medicine, gave it a go and deeply honoured your body from then on.
You are a beautiful reflection and inspiration for other men.

  102. Beautiful sharing Gustavo of how you allowed yourself to open to the possibility of self love and to make those loving choices for yourself. I love how amazing the men who attend Universal Medicine are. They are so tender, open and loving and at the same time truly masculine. I have been able to heal my own hurts from the past just from being in their company.

  103. Gustavo I enjoyed reading about your choice to commit to what was right for you. The teachings of Universal Medicine is for everyone and as you have shared it’s everyone’s choice to embrace what is presented based on what feels right for them.

  104. So simple and so clear. Universal Medicine presents (e.g. on alcohol) and we can choose to see or not. For me, what is presented allows me the space to then feel it in my body and I can make my own choices. What is presented actually frees me to make my own choices. Previously, whilst I could make my own choices, I was under the hold of the norm of what society does, and from here it is harder to have the space to really make choices.

  105. Gustavo, thank you for sharing. Universal Medicine is the only thing I have come across that offered the choice of connecting to myself and living from there. It has been so empowering and life changing. No ‘cult’ does that. A ‘cult’ cultivates a person into not connecting or thinking for themselves and takes all power from them. Universal Medicine fully supports, encourages and connects me to ME. I am now making more loving choices in my own life and feeling amazing.

  106. I really like your blog Gustavo, it shows how simple the teachings and presentations of Universal Medicine are. You listen to your own body and make choices according to that.

  107. I love your experience here Gustavo – thank you for sharing how simple it was to make changes with no one telling you what to do – just simply offering a choice. That is truly beautiful and I see the considerate gentle man you are. Like you – cult is not one bit of what Universal Medicine stands for – because it is only based on choice and not rules. All of which the individual is responsible for.

  108. Beautifully expressed Gustavo. It shows how we are all free to make up our own mind in life, and when it comes to Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine it is no different, if anything there is an even greater amount of free will offered due to the unconditional truth and love that is lived by Serge Benhayon and his family.
How can you not feel the truth and love that is offered by all that choose to live all that they are.

  109. Thank you Gustavo, you are a true inspiration, making your own choices and showing the world that choosing for love and truth has nothing to do with being a man or a woman, but with what you are feeling and what your body is telling you.

  110. Yes Gustavo, Universal Medicine is for everyone and presents a true way to live. From there, it’s the choices I make that have made the difference – no one has forced or coerced me into making the loving changes in my life.

    1. Yes, well said Ulrike, I have never been coerced into any decision by Universal Medicine. I can remember being struck by the fact that Serge Benhayon never tells anyone what to do, he accepts everyone’s choices to choose what is right for them. All Serge does is present the real facts, of the consequences of our choices. All the amazing changes I have made in my life have come about because I have felt the consequences of my daily habits and chosen to love myself. My life, my choice, my consequence, no one else to blame.

      1. Wow Rowena, well said. I couldn’t agree more. That’s it, Serge Benhayon does just present on the consequences of our choices, giving humanity at large a wider perspective. There is no dogma associated with Universal Medicine and no-one is watching over you, we are all left to make our own choices. What I have observed in myself and others is that when we are open to what is being presented and apply that to our own lives, as we become more aware, the natural next step is to change what no longer feels right in our lives. Being open to Universal Medicine and the teachings shared enables us to be more honest.

  111. Thank you for your words. I have met you and Pricilla and you are a very gentle, beautiful couple. And yes, there are many men within Universal Medicine, and they’re not afraid to show their tenderness and be themselves. It is lovely to see men communicating this way with each other and not afraid to give each other a genuine, tender hug with no patting on the back to get away! No, Universal Medicine is definitely not a cult, it is based on love and truth, and what’s wrong with that?

  112. Thank you for your open sharing Gustavo. This was very much my experience regarding alcohol when I started to have Universal Medicine therapies. I had no intention of giving it up, but after a glass of wine one night when the next day I woke up with a hangover that felt like I’d been drinking all night, I knew something was wrong and that this was not good for me. I had one more drink after that and that has been it since. This has all been down to the awareness that is re-awakened when in contact with Universal Medicine. When we become more aware of our bodies, sensitive and feeling more, it becomes more difficult to fight against what our bodies are communicating to us.

    1. Good point Shevon. I had already stopped drinking alcohol when I began attending Universal Medicine events, but there have been many other examples of knowing, once connected to my body, of things that don’t feel right anymore. Trusting this knowing has been truly supportive for me, my energy levels and my levels of awareness.

  113. As you comment, Jane, media reports that it’s only or mostly women who attend Universal Medicine presentations is baffling. For 15 or so years prior to attending Universal Medicine presentations I was regularly attending a wide variety of complimentary health workshops. In practically all of them I can say men were a small minority of the participants and very often I was the only male. In the 7 years I have been to Universal Medicine events I have never known this to be the case. This just demonstrates the inaccuracy of the media reporting and so consequently makes everything else they present to be questionable.

  114. Thanks Gustavo for this very straight and to the point post! You express with such ease and in such a matter of fact yet still gentle manner. Really inspiring that although at first you thought it was all a bit weird, you were open enough to give it a go to find out for yourself. So awesome! If only those believing the lies were as open as you!

  115. Very inspiring to read your story of self-discovery through the support of your wife, Universal Medicine and Sara Williams. The fact that you are a man speaking out about attending Universal Medicine workshops and sessions goes to show that Universal Medicine is not just for women as the media has portrayed, it is for everyone. I know many of the men here in Australia that attend and just like the women they have made changes in their lives and have experienced an enormous amount of healing from attending workshops run by Universal Medicine and seeing practitioners trained by Universal Medicine. It is clear Universal Medicine is for ALL.

  116. Thank you, Gustavo for very simply and honestly expressing what it is about the teachings of Universal Medicine. There is no ‘must do’. There is only an offering of truth, that brings sense to things in life. If it comes to a ‘must do’ this is coming then only from our own hardness towards ourselves.

  117. Thank you Gustavo for speaking your truth so clearly. I really appreciate reading how you, in your own time made the changes to support your health and wellbeing, to enable you to live in true harmony with your wife. Very beautiful.

  118. I agree Meg – it can be challenging to make changes to our lives, especially when it sometimes seems that not everyone around us is making the same changes. For me however, the more I take responsibility for my choices and connecting my choices directly to my body, the easier making these changes becomes. The gentle breath meditation for me is a simply way to connect back to the body, which also has been a life-changer for me also.

  119. A gorgeous blog Gustavo — you express so simply and beautifully how you made your own loving choices not because anyone told you to, but because you could feel what was true from you from the wisdom of your own body. This is not a skill reserved for some, certainly not just for women — it is there accessible to men and women equally, as you so clearly present here.

  120. I agree Gustavo, the media seem to present women as either under- intelligent, or manipulative as far as their partners are concerned. How refreshing to read the truth. Men and women are equal, and when they are in true partnership, as many Universal Medicine students are, it is beautiful to see.

  121. Thank you for sharing your experience Gustavo. I have experienced similar things at Universal Medicine events and from practitioners. No one has ever told me what to do – I have been offered various alternatives to ponder on and to reflect on how things are working in my life. I thought I had a good life and good marriage prior attending some of the workshops – since exploring my choices and developing more love with myself and within my relationships and marriage my life is now truly amazing. Thank you Serge Benhayon and the Universal Medicine team and all the practitioners who have trained with them.

  122. In my case Gustavo I was the one who was sceptical in the beginning when my husband started with doing the Gentle Breath Meditation, making more healthy choices etc. I felt left on my own but with seeing him becoming more gentle and loving, changes I could see not only because he made different choices but also in his face which reflected the love he was now living more and more each day. This reflection made me ponder and I have given it a go and started to live the love I feel inside and I never felt any regret on the contrary, I am very grateful!

  123. Beautiful Gustavo! It’s great to hear such an honest, simple account from one of the many men that choose to study with Universal Medicine.

  124. A very honest piece Gustavo. Simple and to the point.
My partner has not attended any UM courses or presentations… yet. He can be reactive at times depending on how I am living with myself and how I offer information to him. If I am not living it or walking the talk, he sees straight through it and reacts. Amazing! When I am in my body and coming from an authority of what I have lived he gets it and our connection deepens beautifully. I love this work!

  125. A glorious claiming of what is true for you Gustavo. Very honest, down to earth and real. I’m sure many people have been sceptical to begin with, but have discovered how wonderful they can feel and how great life can be when they truly connect to themselves.

  126. Thank you Gustavo. I agree with all you have said, especially about the Gentle Breath Meditation. This is such a beautiful, gentle way to connect to one’s self. In many years of trying different meditation techniques, this one worked immediately and has been a constant companion of mine for over 9 years. This meditation, a key tool in the Universal Medicine ‘support kit’, has enabled me to make many changes in my life because I could truly begin to feel the effects of my choices. Alcohol, sugar, caffeine, chocolate, dairy, gluten have all gone from my diet because I felt ill after having them. I too have never received a single instruction from Serge Benhayon or anyone associated with Universal Medicine, every change in my life has been instigated by Me, based on what I feel.

  127. Gustavo, I love how simply and honestly you have laid out your battle with what you thought was right to what you are finding to be true. This mirrors my experience so very closely. Thanks for sharing this story.

  128. Thanks for sharing Guitavo. I agree Universal Medicine doesn’t tell us how to live our lives. Serge Benhayon his family and practitioners demonstrate through the way they live and share their lived experience and lifestyle choices. No pressure just share and support people to connect with our own body and feel for ourselves so we can make our own choices. We all have free will we can take it or leave it, no pressure judgment or expectations from Universal Medicine.

  129. It’s as simple as that Gustavo. I enjoyed your blog as it is exactly as you say it (at least for me anyway) that once you find a truth in something eg. Alcohol is poison, the next time you say to yourself ‘I’ll just have one’ you can really feel the terribleness that it makes your body feel that we chose to not notice prior.
It’s great to see so many men at the universal medicine webcasts, presentations & retreats because you guys are just as beautiful and worth nurturing of yourselves as women are so good for you.

  130. Gustavo it is true our lives can change quite dramatically once we connect to ourselves and permit ourselves to feel. I have freed myself of a few shackles since becoming a student of Universal Medicine.

    1. Yes me too Patricia, and I am beginning to celebrate and appreciate me more and more every day, and that FEEEEEELS great.

  131. It may be a male thing Gustavo, I was a little skeptical at first as well, not about Serge Benhayon himself, for I had never felt so met by another human in my life, rather about some of what was being presented.
What was being presented by Universal Medicine was that if I truly wanted a more loving relationship with myself and others, I needed to begin with being more honest about how I felt and how I lived. There were a lot of things that I thought I did not want exposed, and so I resisted, or at least my spirit did.
Looking back it seems crazy that I would not want to know all the ways that I hurt myself and others. Serge simply saw me as amazing, divine, as love and never, ever judged me. He has allowed me, in my own time, to let go of all of the unloving habits and behaviors that I had used to cope with life, and return to me, all that I am – my own choices to be the amazing me!

  132. Thank you Gustav, for sharing your experiences when becoming a student of Universal Medicine. I do understand your reacting when your wife started to be a student before you did. As you say, we think we have a great life until we allow ourselves to see the truth of it. I too have experienced this when I started with attending workshops and courses with Universal Medicine. Sometimes I had the feeling that living a true life is completely opposite to how I used to live. All the ideals an beliefs that gave me the structure and support in life seemed to be false and just holding me from the freedom that a true life brings. Now I do make my own choices as good as I can, returning harmony and joy back to into my life.

  133. This is a great read, Gustavo, thank you. It would be wonderful to have a follow-on article from you, now that it is almost three years on from when you presented this. I love your up-front honesty, let’s here it for unimed men.

  134. Great to read this, I too have never been told what to do, say or think. Its the opposite in fact. They always stand back and let people choose for themselves. Most students stay with them, as the quality is second to none, and well worth the time to see anything run by Universal Medicine

  135. Beautiful Gustavo such a true sharing and wiliness to feel the love offered to you by Universal Medicine and your wife and the choice of this.

  136. I can certainly see this within the media coverage of Universal Medicine, an attempt to portray women as weak and easily manipulated, which is of course nonsense and completely sexist. Of the many women I know who attend UM events, I have found that they are strong and independent, far removed from the nonsense portrayed in much of the media coverage to date, which looks to subjugate women by painting them as gullible fools. I attend events and workshops and I see a great many other men who do the same. A fairer and more balanced assessment of the work of Universal Medicine is definitely long overdue.

  137. I can feel it is a truth you have connected to from living it in your body and that is the best proof of all, to experience for yourself and actually live it. This is what makes Universal Medicine and its teaching so unique, it all comes from a students own choice and truth and NEVER imposed and forced from what has been presented

  138. Well done, Gustavo, for being willing to explore what Universal Medicine has to offer and for standing up for what you feel is right for you.

  139. Such a joy to read Gustavo, how even though you were skeptical you tried the gentle breath meditation and felt you…. that’s it, no one can tell you what to do, once you have connected to yourself! That’s what I love about Universal Medicine and Serge Benhayon, straight up its about connecting to yourself, knowing what is true for you and living that – then you can never be fooled or taken for a ride by anything or anyone. I have not seen this presented in any other modality or course anywhere.

  140. Thank-you Gustavo for writing how you were willing to try the Gentle Breadth Meditiation to connect to your inner self and to then be inspired to have a session with a Universal Medicine Practitioner and how this has made your relationship with yourself and your wife more loving. To have come into contact with Serge Benhayon and Universal Medicine and the Gentle Breadth Meditiation has been the best thing that has ever happened to me and yes it has changed my life completely and thank God for that. I now make more loving choices for myself including what I eat, in the way I do things everyday and going to bed and getting up early, that support me in living a more healthy and joyful life. How absolutely ridiculous for us to be accused of being in a cult for choosing to be responsible for our own wellbeing.

  141. Thank you, Gustavo. Change can be challenging, no matter what sex you are yet your willingness to be more loving and to honour the connection you felt is inspiring and a testimony to the true love you share with your wife, Priscilla. Amazing what a 10 minute gentle breath meditation can bring!

  142. Gustavo you have reminded me of the first time I did the Gentle Breath Meditation. It was such a profound experience to feel me, to connect to my essence. I knew that this feeling was what I wanted more of in my life. From this and with the support of Universal Medicine practitioners I began to naturally, over time, notice the things in my life that took me away from this feeling, that did not support me feeling and living from my essence. It has been a challenging journey but so well worth the dedication as my life now is lived more from me than ever before. Thank you for inviting me to appreciate this within myself again.

  143. A little sceptism may be healthy at the beginning Gustavo, and Serge Benhayon certainly welcomes questions, and prefers students to feel for themselves and ask them rather than just follow along. Just as you said, the support is there when we need it, and the inspiration also.

  144. Thanks for sharing Gustavo. It’s amazing how something as simple as the gentle breath can bring us back to our bodies so easily. Fantastic that you were able to let go of your scepticism and allow yourself to feel and follow your own truth.

  145. It could’t be said more clearly or simply Gustavo. My husband would agree 100% with you that Universal Medicine is for everyone equally so! And as for it being a cult, you are right, it is absolutely false. As an intelligent and independent woman with a husband the same, we would never allow another to tell us what to do or how to live. Ludicrous! Universal Medicine supports people to truly feel for themselves and make choices for themselves and no other.

  146. Thank you Gustavo. Universal Medicine simply presents, it is then left to the individual to discern the truth for themselves. Sometimes that is a struggle, admitting what we already know deep down but haven’t lived.

  147. What a great blog Gustavo. It is inspiring that even though you were skeptical you were willing to find out for yourself why so many people are enthusiastic about Universal Medicine. As they say “the proof is in the pudding” and from what you write it sounds like you are reaping the benefits of your willingness to give it a go.

  148. Lovely to hear your experience Gustavo – thanks for sharing it. Yes there is such harmony to what UM present – it is quite divine really.

  149. Very cool Gastavo, many people live with scepticism because we all know there is much false and misleading things out there. Sometimes we feel change is hard, but as I know too there is nothing more simple than learning to listen to your body and how much more amazing life becomes when you honour it.

  150. Gustavo, you make it sound so very simple…and it is. You felt for yourself the effect alcohol had on your body with the tiredness and fever having not had any alcohol for a while, and having healing sessions. It seems that our bodies know what messages they can give us based on our awareness…the more aware we become, the louder the messages…that’s how it is for me these days and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
